hi! i was wondering if someone knows a way, a format or a method to export a 3d shape from C4D into AE and still be able to rotate around it by making the layer 3d – ( i don’t want the shape to look 3d but that once it’s imported it’s like a 2d image that can be moved into XYZ ) – i want it like it in C4D (in 3d) – no animation – does it make sense for someone? thanks in advance. jimstr

more i think about it more i think it’s impossible because of all the shadows and lighting that gets in the way – i mean if i were to create a transparent/glass object, when i would be rotating it in AE how would it knows all the reflections etc for every each position of my cam?!

Hi :) You can export the file from C4D in format .dxf and open with Swift3D (can see on http://www.erain.com/ ) and make the animati in Swift :) From Swift its easy export to Flash shape.

Jim,

Not possible buddy, you need to do the animation in C4D and then render it out with multi passes for you elements and then composite back in AE.

ok, i will have to work around it.. thanks xdozex…

but think about that: wouldn’t it be cool to have a C4D plugin in AE that would let you have wire-framed objects and place em around/moving/rotating and once you render your comp it would render the 3d object using C4D render engine but taking in consideration all AE parameters and effects :D

ok might be impossible but i tend, the more oftenly possible, to slap myself with the thought that: “if you think about, it is possible.” im too optimistic/daydreaming maybe…
