Hi Pehap – Welcome to FlashDen!
FlashDen follows the microstock model where users despoit cash in to their account to make purchases. The additional deposit remains in your account ready for any additional purchases you might make. The reason this model is used is that transaction costs can be considerable on some of our cheaper Items (Over 20% for $1 items) .
One caveat: cash ‘expires’ 1 year after you deposited it. This is in place so that we don’t have to account for change that a member has forgotten about. Note: only 0.8% of deposits are currently expiring so its not really an issue but I thought you would want to know.
We may add purchasing of individual Items, say with a transaction surcharge, in the future but don’t hold your breath.
I don’t consider losing $16 just a little change! I did not forget about it, but I deposited money just over a year ago and found out today that it has expired! Looking back over my email, I did find 1 “courtesy” message sent about a month ago, easily overlooked. I think the honest thing to do would be to credit my account. I most likely read the fine print about money will be forfeited after 1 year, figuring that I would use it within that time frame. Still, it is a bad policy and makes me not want to support FlashDen at all.
