Hi guys, I need some help – I need to convert a .swf file – this one here:

Basically I did the music for it, and I want to incorporate it into my flv player that I bought on here, but I’m not too sure how to convert a .swf file to .fla or flv.

Any ideas? I don’t have adobe but my friend does – do I need to open it in adobe, and convert it to a movie file, or is it the other way around – does a .fla file convert to a .swf file?

Any help would be appreciated…cheers :)

A .fla file, when published and compiled, creates the .swf file. Depending on the settings when the original author published the .swf you may not be able to do anything with it.

The swf file is usually the ‘loader’ for Flash Video when it is used in conjunction with video / audio. So the .swf is responsible for connecting to and playing the .flv file.

Looks like what you really need is not the SWF , which is the loader file probably, but the FLV file.

You don’t really convert SWFs to FLV or FLA . I doubt that SWF contains the content that you want either; as I said it probably just connects to the source FLV file.

Hmm…the author said that she has no .flv file, and no .fla file either. She said the project just created a .swf file which she put onto her webpage then…

This is really bugging me – I kinda need this project to put into my portfolio.

Would there be anyway to capture the file as video and convert it to flv then?

u can convert in .swf to avi (for example, i use Flash To Video Encoder) after this convert in .flv

hey Emmet .. i don’t think that is an actual Video .. that looks like a flash slideshow with some pictures and a slider(that gives the impresion of a video),but there is no flv file or video player. So the idea is that you can’t use this with a video player, but if you want to display this in your folio why not embed that actual swf file? You could simply embed the swf that you showed us in your webpage ;)
