A .fla file, when published and compiled, creates the .swf file. Depending on the settings when the original author published the .swf you may not be able to do anything with it.
The swf file is usually the ‘loader’ for Flash Video when it is used in conjunction with video / audio. So the .swf is responsible for connecting to and playing the .flv file.
Looks like what you really need is not the SWF , which is the loader file probably, but the FLV file.
You don’t really convert SWFs to FLV or FLA . I doubt that SWF contains the content that you want either; as I said it probably just connects to the source FLV file.
