Exclusive author Item was featured Author was featured Referred at least one person Reviewer Sold between 5 000 and 10 000 dollars Bought between 100 and 499 items

Hey had an idea that might help the ‘low rating’ problem.

1. When a user buys a file, they dont have the option to rate straight away, this will stop other authors from buying a file and rating 1 star instantly just to destroy competition. (i know it happens because its happened to me)

2. After a set time (possibly 24 hours?) the file can then be reviewed, this involves the user leaving some feedback about their experience with the file and they can add a rating to this review which will be shown next to the review along with the buyers thumbnail image and name.

3. reviews will be displayed in a seperate tab from the comments so each file has comments and reviews.

4. each review has a ‘dispute review’ button on it that only the file author can see, this will allow the user to email support with the review ID in case it is a blatently unfair review.

5. the average rating from the reviews is displayed next to the file just as they are now.

6. ratings cannot be made without leaving a review.

Just a thought :)

I agree with all but #6, since that might discourage reviews.

I would also like to add that currently an item is at 0 stars until rated, and in the search/browsing view it does not show how many ratings, all a customer sees is 0 stars, how about that changes to say Not Yet Rated. We know that if it’s 0 stars its unrated, but most buyers wouldn’t :)

6 is the main reason for this post, to stop people being able to leave anonamous bad ratings. :)

agree with your point too :)

..although #6 could be limited to 3 stars and under, as you don’t want to discourage people that intended to vote 5* in the first place and couldn’t be bothered to leave a review.

The idea is to discourage people with bad intentions.

Hey… Just throw out that pointless rating system based on one’s unonymous dissatisfaction… :) And make some different… really fair and useful – reflecting the visitors/buyers correlation for example… :)

I agree, getting a low rating with no reasoning behind it, sort of stinks. But you also have to realize that if you force people to write a review along with their rating, they probably just wont give a rating.

I personally have rated every file I have purchased, but I have also sold quite a few items, and have received probably less than 20 ratings. So what I’m getting at is that the amount of people rating files is low, and having them do more to get their rating up there will either drop the amount of people that rate down, or cause them to be even more upset and rate lower than they had planned to. Or both. lol

I think overall it tough because if everybody rated the files they bought there would be a larger number to average from, therefor a 2 star would not affect the overall rating unless it got a bunch of 2 star ratings.
