I want to host my videos on my site an not upload them on youtube or anything like that. How do I find a basic player? To use a flash player do I need to convert the videos I have to flash? Right now one is mpeg. It seems I can upload almost any type of video to youtube (avi, mpeg, etc…;)

Can someone give me a quick overview of what I need to do?

Can I buy a video player from here? If so, how do I import the file I have within the video player? do I upload the video file to my website?

If someone could give me a rundown of what I need to do, I’d really appreciate it…

I want to be able to put the video on my site and just would like a bit of instruction. I found some videos here that look good, but I’m worried about importing the video file (what format it needs to be in) and enabling the video on my site.

flv format, you can compress it using flash video encoder that comes with flash or use some other soft that make is. and yes, of course you need then to upload the video to your server, and yes here in flashden have a lot of flv players.

At my work we build video portals. My colleagues have written a Java based application that uses FFMPEG for encoding different types of video to a couple of standard video outputs (flv, mp4, wmv, mpeg, etc). It’s is quite allot of work to get such a service working proper.

H264 encoded .mov file can now be player in Flash, this is a HD format and in my opinion works better than FLV and obviously looks much better.

H264 is great (.mp4, m4v, .mov, 3gp) .
You can encode video with MediaCoder (freeware)
Check out my standalone player (with h264 support)

yesterday I used MediaCoder first time and I must say MediaCoder is great but doesn’t work on Windows Vista when your output format is .flv.

Did you noticed the time you have to wait before the video is avaible, right after the upload? It’s becouse the YouTube server converts the video for you.
