I am pretty new to flash.

I purchased a template on here and in the template there is an image, I want to replace that image with my own (which is the same size).

What I have done is double click the image in the Library, and ‘import’ my image. Is this the correct way to do it? Once images are imported, do I need to hit “update”? I can’t figure out what else update would be for.

Also, do I need to upload these images to my website separately for them to work in the flash file?

Thanks

What file did you purchase? If they are XML images, then you dont import them into flash… If they are within the flash movie, then you just import it, and publish the SWF file… Flash will do the rest.

Update is for when you have an image already imported in the library, and you edit it externally (eg: in photoshop), then you click update to apply the changes to the image without importing again.

About your problem, If the image you want to change is on stage, you could click it, then choose “swap” from the properties tab below. This way you can replace any image/clip with another from your library.
