ok so my aim for the rest of this year is to learn (at least the basics) PHP /asp.net.

does anyone know which ones best for working with flash?

any good books/sites?

There is a book , I’ve read it some time ago “Foundation PHP 5 for Flash ” it’s from “friends of Ed”
You can pick it up from amazon for 35$

yeah i was looking at that one i was going to try and find one at a library first. do you have any prefs on which is best php of asp?

php is open source , that’s a big plus , also every host on the planet supports php 4 and 5. :)

PHP sounds good then ill try and find that book cheap somewhere (on amazon uk its £30 ($60)!!!!!)

For awhile I was working with ASP /.NET and I found coding seems much longer and frustrating than PHP … Plus PHP is much easier to learn. :)

i got this book, very highly reccomended, its the best start you could look for, it explains everything really easily.

PHP all the way, plus you will not need to host on Microsoft web servers, Linux is so much better as a hosting platform.

www.php.net

Loading data to and from Flash is very easy, php is a joy to work with when in tandem with mySQL.

Go down to your local library, they will probably have tonnes of books you can get on PHP .
