My file was rejected with the comments “please name the preview file properly”. All because I had the preview flash file not named preview.swf. Yes in the instructions it says it must be named preview.swf but this is my second file and my first wasn’t named preview.swf and it was it accepted.

It took me two seconds to rename and resubmit but how unfair because I have to sit in the queue again for another couple of days.

That’s kinda like saying, “I was thrown out of the library for being too noisy. I know there was a sign saying ‘Please Do Not Talk’, but I was able to talk to my friend the other week and the librarians never told me to be quiet.”

In other words, you got away with breaking the rules once, but you won’t always get away with it, so why bother trying to break the rules? :)

Flashden has very tight upload instructions because it saves time in the long run for the benefit of ALL authors. If reviewers had to rename files each and every time they reviewed a file, the time to process items would be even longer. Please trust us, the rules are there to make it very efficient for us to get your files out there as fast as we can. Once you’ve uploaded a handful of files, the rules and instructions become very clear and easy, so please hang in there. :)

Hope this helps explain the situation, evos, and we look forward to seeing your correctly named file again when it gets to the front of the queue. :)

Yeah I know what you are saying and I agree it is about being more efficient.

But it would have been nice if they said “your new so we accepted it but next time make sure the preview is named preview.swf”. Or at least said that the first time so I would be aware of it.

Flashden has strict upload policies now :D … I could understand for being a new user and all, but hey.. this site gets hundreds of new users a day! :)

What if the next time you forget to change the file name too, it’s not bad to be rejected cause you have gained experience for the next time uploading.

Evos,

Welcome to the Den! And I’m sorry that you have wait for the queue again over something very small. But pleas realize that when a reviewer takes a look at your files, he needs to go through every file. If something is wrong, and that reviewer takes time to make that change, he then needs to re-upload that file to the server. Wasting very precious time, and because of that, could lead to less files reviewed. And the queue moving more slowly.

Also the whole new policy doesn’t really work because there are very clear instructions, and it would be impossible for the reviewers to know who is new and who is old. Plus it really isnt fair making exceptions for anyone, because then you receive a benefit that others do not.

I am not trying to be harsh, I honestly understand your argument. And it does suck having to wait again, but this is why we stress to check, double-check and triple-check your files to ensure that you have everything correct before uploading.

Hope that helps, Mark

hi xdozex..i had similar issues in uploading files like naming the file to preview.swf….

and roma helped me a lot in coming out of frustration, by responding so well to my emails..

but i suggestd her and i would like to suggest here also that…

things like naming the file preview.swf should be managed with a warning , instead of cancelling the upload..u see believe me or not its very frustrating

i am sure the staff will consider on giving a warning for such small ommisions and errors … this will really help us go better…straightaway punishment souds very very very rude

thanks
