I’m still using Flash 8 AS2 . What are the main differences between AS2 and AS3 ? I might consider switching to CS3 if it is worth it, but i dont know whats so good about it…

AS3 is AWESOME , period.

There is no if’s or buts, as soon as you’ve started using it you will NEVER want to code in AS2 again.

I used to use AS2 but having a Java/VB background I love the logic and structure to AS3 , not to mention the management of events, all of which AS2 severely lacked…

And then theres Papervision3D…

AS3 wins 8)

I am for 50-50 at present. I think we can see the full potential of AS3 visually, 6 months after the release of CS4 (as there are significant improvements in visual/performance in CS4 ), then AS2 will be ridden out by most of the designers/developers.

I am over to as3 and i recomend it to everyone, it is so much better, faster and reusable + you can do more with it (like full papervision, box2d physics, audio spectrum)

And if you look here: http://www.adobe.com/products/player_census/flashplayer/version_penetration.html

around 98% of the world has player 9 :)

For FD I am still using as2 because that is what most people buy. I am excited for when it switches to most people buying as3 files.

I completely abandon AS2 and focus on AS3 more because I need to renew my pro Adobe certified AS3 .

The migrate is not an easy process and it take time to learn it in a good way ,more to say with CS4 coming AS2 will be history in 2-3 years .

AS3 open lots of doors for new application that AS2 is stammering.

But still I think 4-5 years from now you will still see lots of designers using AS2 .

You cant dance and run after Adobe every time they change there tec` we are unman not machines.(:

I haven’t used AS2 since I downloaded the Flash 8 AS3 preview. I felt it was so clean and logical, it was difficult everytime I needed to maintain one of my old AS2 files.
