Hi,
I have bought fro Flashden and would like to buy the excellent looking ‘Powerful Dynamic XML Video Gallery’ authored by Triworks.
The previous buy didn’t do what it said it would – though an excellent app – and before spending more money on an application I would likie to know that it is fit for purpose.
To that end I posted 4 questions 2 weeks ago and have not heard from the vendor at all. I have also send mails to the vendors designated email and left another couple of posts on the app page but still no response.
I notice others have also posted but no reply.
I am puzzled as to what to do next – I really would likie this app on my site but have discovered a couple of minor bugs (which I can live with for the moment) but do need to confirm functionality.
I have delayed the launch of my site to include this app (or another video gallery) but would like to get on now.
Has anyone any advice as to what I should try next – other than taking my business elsewhere as I do want to support this excellent community.

Thanks RimV for your fast response – it is much appreciated.
I should perhaps say that the main reason for the questions I have posted is because the description for the app is very sparse, and at $35 I would like a little more reassurance what it can and can’t do – especially having spent $20 on another video app that did not do what it seemed to suggest it would.
I suppose I rather hoped either triworks would respond or Flashden might contact Triworks just asking for a quick response. Otherwise I face the prospect of having spent $55 on Flashden with no useful outcome – a shame as I thnk this is a great site and I would be discouraged from making any further purchases.

and at $35 I would like a little more reassurance what it can and can’t doAre you serious?!
35$ is a VERY low price!! For that price you shouldn’t ask any pre-sales questions, or be afraid that the file will not work exactly how you expect it to work. And yes, like RimV said..authors offer FREE support only because they want to do so. So don’t complain anymore that a BIG author isn’t answering your emails.. If you really understand the market you will see that for 35$ you “don’t deserve any support”
All the authors that offer support for their files, do that because they are cool people, and not because the buyers would deserve any support.(except bugs i guess)
This is all a question of perspective I guess.
If I pay a dollar for a bottle of wine I don’t expect to ask where it’s from or even if its wine – come to think of it my local restaurant has been foisting that $1 a bottle stuff on me for years .. !
However, this site offers precoded Flash apps for sale and, unfortunately, the more complex the app, the more basic information should be included in the description.
To be honest, I freely admit that a couple of the Qs are not strictly ‘basic info’ but I probably would not be asking those Qs if the basic info was already available. Indeed, I would have bought this already.
I do understand that this is very cheap for this kind of code – that’s why I am buying here – and I have an audio player from this site that is quite brilliant, cost me next to nothing ($12) and I have recommended to many of my friends and colleagues.
So, I do understand the principle of cheap price, multiple sell, no support guaranteed, which is why I have not ranted about this – I really am simply enquiring if it is possible to get my 4 simple Qs answered so I can buy this excellent looking app. I am not picking a fight nor dissing anyone – simply asking for a little guidance and advice.
So to clarify – I agree $35 is cheap, I am happy to pay $35 or even $350 if it works as I know what it would cost to have this custom authored, I understand that support is not generally available and admire those who provide support on an ad-hoc basis. I understand the apps will almost always need some additional coding to make them fit for purpose.
If you, or anyone else here feels able to offer guidance and advice, I thank you most kindly. If not, that’s OK too – we all have lives to lead and in the meatime I wish you and all on Flashden a very good weekend.

I love the way purchasers always seem to think that they have the right to dictate what files should and shouldn’t have.
Don’t get me wrong if a file doesn’t do what it says it does then there is an issue.
If you perceive that a file, which you do not have the capability to build should have functionality that would really constitute a bespoke solution, then I think you should go and build it yourself.
The authors on this site are some of the best in the world, they share work, which has prerequisite information gathered from hundreds of hours work.
Posts like this enrage me, Triworks stuff is fabulous, they offer files which could be sold for hundreds on other template sites for less than $50.
They also have their own support threads.
This guys has 4 posts and has purchased less than 10 items.
The authors build the files, then if you want you buy its simple, don’t go asking someone to build what you can’t just because you feel they should.
Don’t get me wrong I welcome feedback and I feel that an open forum binds and strengthens the community that is Flash Den, but some of you guys need to get a grip on reality and see how much the authors put into these files.

Honestly, I do not think that for a moment – the files are what they are.
If you perceive that a file, which you do not have the capability to build should have functionality that would really constitute a bespoke solution, then I think you should go and build it yourself.
All I am asking for with this particular app is a full description of it’s capabilities – I really like the app as is and have not asked for any changes at all.

I have already apologised for any misunderstanding here so I hope you will read this in the spirit in which it is sent. I agree wholeheartedly that the Triworks stuff is very good and have already agreed that it would cost a lot of money to custom build and is therefore good value for money.

Look, this is getting a little out of hand – Yes, I am a newbie to this site and have only made a couple of purchases so far, but I shall be making many more. I am not questioning the site or the content in general, I am just trying to get some basic info on this one particular file – no changes, no special treatment, just a quick answer. I like the file, I want the file, I’ll buy the file as soon as I am able to satisfy myself it is fit for my purpose – which I think it is but would just like that confirmed – so please cut me some slack here eh?
The authors build the files, then if you want you buy its simple, don’t go asking someone to build what you can’t just because you feel they should.
Just to clarify, I have not asked for any changes, I have not asked anyone to build something new and different nor do I feel any one should – these are really not my words or sentiment – I just want a couple of simple answers to a couple of simple questions.
Don’t get me wrong I welcome feedback and I feel that an open forum binds and strengthens the community that is Flash Den, but some of you guys need to get a grip on reality and see how much the authors put into these files.
I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments about feedback and community. Coming from a long background of significant hard and software development I completely understand the effort that goes into developing these files and take my hat off in admiration to the authors whose time has saved me a massive amount of work and cost.
So please, go a little more gently on me here – I am only asking Qs about one app – if anyone here feels that is some gross profanity I apologise one last time – that is not and was not my intent.
And if I may make one small suggestion – you could perhaps be a little more gentle and encouraging of newbies to this excellent community ….
Peace and love
