Awesome Design. I would buy if there is a full screen button and a Zoom function. Full Screen in todays web is very important. All in all great concept. Especially for training purposes.

You DO NOT need the Flash application to use this file.
Here’s a basic XML /Flash video portfolio perfect for a video editor, director, performance artist, etc…
This is an AS2 file.
This file also comes with the video tutorials which are being used in the preview.
Here’s a breakdown:
XML :
The XML file allows you to control to following:
1. Video titles, video path, video description and thumbnail path.
2. Change the Player Frame Color
3. Choose to load a JPG /PNG background image or not load one.
4. Choose to load a JPG /PNG logo or title image to the upper left.
5. Choose the gradient colors and shape for the background.
6. Choose to display a bottom right button for contact info or other info.
7. Choose the size and color of that button text.
8. Change the player control button / scroll / volume colors.
9. Choose to auto-start the player on load or not.
10. Choose to auto-play the next clip or not.
11. Choose the font size and color for video clip title and description.
12. Choose to use one or both text fields in the contact section.
13. Dynamic text can include HTML tags.
14. Turn the enlarge video feature off/on
FLA :
The download will include the FLA .
1. Easily change the two fonts by clicking on the font SiteFont1 and SiteFont2 library items and choosing the desired font.
2. All actionscript is commented for easy editing.
3. If you want to edit the FLA you’ll need to have the The Fuse Kit which is free and can be downloaded here:

Hi Gopic, Thanks for the compliment and you bring up a good point. That was actually a bit I meant to add and just lost it in the details. I’ll add that and see if they’ll let me update the file.
For those of you who may buy the file in the meantime and when i do get that functionality up and running I’ll send you the new file per request.
Oh and, for those with questions I’ll try to get here as often as possible to answer them or you can email me at info@station-eight.com.
Thanks, Dave

Thanks folks. And there’s a version with a vid enlarge feature being reviewed so the preview should reflect that soon.

I got most of the FLV players or FLV website template files on FD and will no doubt add this one to my library in the near future.
Can you switch the ability to drop the controls and contact buttons to the bottom outside the player off? This would banjax a design where it sits neatly in a div on a page.
Great job.

Ok good to know.
Two other things…..what about ability to have the player only without the backround…..what I mean as player size only to fiz neatly in a div.
I have also got the Rich Media Project player and most interesting is the ability to force play a video before the actual video play while disabling the video controls with an info bar. How would you do this with your player?

@eirehotspur I plan on uploading a smaller version like that later this week or next – sans the backgrounds, just the player. This one could do that now, but the stage size is too big to do it properly…. thx

Love your player – design and function – almost exactly what I need and I think I can configure it to be just that. One question…I need this to deliver onlive video recipes for cooking – and I need a place to drop in dynamic text of the actual recipe ingredients. Would it be difficult for me to reposition the “description” text to display these ingredients? The actual video is only 320×204 so I can make room easily.
Any better ideas? Thanks so much!

@emgproductions, no, not too terribly difficult, the easiest thing to do would be to expand the button height and desc. text area. You could do that by either physically changing the button height or dynamically in the xml loop so each button sizes to fit the current size + the expanded desc. text area. Or you could turn each desc. text area into a link to a pdf listing that recipe’s ingredients.
Changing the size of the video and frame would probably be the most difficult way to attack it.
Hope that helps….

This is a killer file! Thanks for putting it together; it’s exactly what I needed. I have zero knowledge of Flash, but it took all of 5 minutes to change the XML and get a fresh new look going.
Very easy to use. Now I’ve got a killer portfolio!
I’ll post a link when my new site goes live. Thanks again!

hey station8-
i’m just about there with my portfolio. i’m having a bizarre problem; hoping you might help.
for some reason in safari or firefox, whenever i play a video the audio plays this awful static. i tested it in DW and viewed it in IE and it appears to be fine. thoughts?
you can check it out at: www.patnorman.net
thanks!

Hi Pat, Thanks for downloading the player!! I just watched a handful of clips on the site in Safari and FF and didn’t get any static noise issues…. ? Are you still experiencing this…? If so, what versions of the browsers are you using. Thanks again, Dave

Hey Dave-
Strangely enough, I just viewed the page on Safari/FF on another Mac and it worked fine, though on my machine (running Safari v3.1.2) it still gives me the static.
Maybe it’s just a fluke?
I’ll see if updating my Safari helps.

That’s odd, I just tried it from my other machine running Safari 3.1.2 and got static. My laptop running 3.1.1 did not this morning and still doesn’t, but I don’t get static on the test movie here…. hmm. How are you embedding the swf?

hey dave-
i didn’t do anything special to embed the .swf, just used the provided index.html that came with the download.

Hey Pat, When I try to view the html source it only shows me frame set code. That could be the source of your problem there. Write me at info@station-eight.com if you want to continue this trouble shooting…
Thanks, Dave
