The DOF effect is very easy to achieve, it’s a simple blur filter.
The spinning animation itself is a little more complicated; It’s done completely inside flash using shape-tweens for each individual black line. I worked a lot on tweaking it to achieve a fluid motion and I’m pretty happy with the end result.
Great job!... I can see there is lots of work getting the tweening to work with all that detail. I guess I can’t ask if you have thought about a soccer ball??
