July 9th, 2008. Added preloader. Added override dimensions for SWF in case your swf exceeds the flash stage dimensions. (use this when your SWF is not properly aligned to the center)

File description

Simple auto centering af an external SWF . The delay and the SWF can be set by FlashVars in html, so no Actionscript knowledge is needed.

nope, the file is in AS3 , so CS3 only.

downloaded the package…but there’s no html file as to referred to in your readme.pdf. is there any way you could post the html code as a message here. no one else has written with that problem so is there something i am missing?

I have uploaded an update for this but it is still in the queue I guess. Send me an email (mail address is in the readme) and i’ll send you the files. Hopefully they are up soon.

Why when my SWF load it show all elements out of the border of that SWF ?? And can i add a backgroud color to a swF? Thanx !

my external swf is all over the place. every time i resize, it moves someplace else and it’s never in the middle. this needs more work.

i got it! Your script works properly only if the external swf doesn’t have any animated objects outside of the stage. Otherwise, the movie is not centered, and even dissapears if you resize the browser. My swf is very much animated and unfortunately this doesn’t help me.

Hi!

It worksd perfectly! Except for one thing…

My loading bar never shows, so the site stays blank for 20 seconds and ppl will leave before the site appears if there is no loading…

I’ve purchased this and your essentials FullScreen, and I’m trying to get them to play nice together, i.e. this loading the fullScreen module centered on the page. So far I’m unsuccessful. Maybe you can lend a hand?

i just purchased and open up the index.html file to see how is looks but the external email does not appear at all. All i get is a small rectangle box in the middle of the screen, can you explain why?

Make sure that you test the file in your web server (localhost or online), Flash doesn’t allow you to load swf files from your local machine. This is an internal security issue. I’m able to turn this off for this file but then the swf is able to access clients local machine.

Here some links for easy manageable local http server to avoid the security issue (includes apache, php and mysql).

Windows: http://www.wampserver.com/en/download.php

Mac: http://www.mamp.info/en/download.html

On a Mac you can also place it in you Sites folders (Macintosh HD/users/yourusername/Sites) and enable Web Sharing in your sharing preferences.

It will be published under username/”>http://localhost/username/
