BEST SMALL XML CALENDAR WITH TIME SCHEDULING

HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesUtilitiesBest Small XML Calendar with Time Scheduling

This useful little calendar is clean and crisp and driven by an easy to edit XML file.

As you can see, in addition to populating your calendar with one-off events, you can also schedule recurring events. They can be weekly, annually, monthly by date and even the more abstract monthly by day (for example if you get paid on the last Friday of the month, or you run a club night that happens on the first Saturday etc)

As an added feature you can enter a time for your event, this means you can schedule multiple events on the same day!!!!

You can then drill down and display a description for your events.

Super-simple to reskin, all the graphic symbols are fully editable!

Hope you like it, don’t just sit there staring in amazement, buy it now!

Nice and clean. Well done

I really like this – Just wondering what happens when two events overlap – I know it’s not designed to do this, but was wondering what would happen if client did this accidentally.

Also would be nice if there was more than one thing on a day to see how it works.

Erm, to be honest I would not have the first idea how to get it to display Hebrew!

Sorry!

When events on the same day overlap then the calendar will just add two events on the same place with the event that is later in the XML being the one on top.

It won’t break anything, but it’s not going to look too pretty!

This is the calendar program you are looking for. It sure is for me! After trying some other calendar programs and having some really big problems (including lack of support), Frank’s calendar is super and so is he. He’s been very supportive and helpful.

The way Frank sets up the code makes sense and it is easy to follow and customize. It took me about 30 minutes to get the calendar installed and customized to my web site. His XML set up was much superior to the others I tried.

Thanks Frank!

I like the functionality of calendar….

I would but it if it has some sort of cool tip / identier of what event is going on, like bigger version with words in the boxes possible?

Thanks ;-)

Thanks for the really cool calendar!! I was wondering if there is a current way to – 1. set events that last for multiple days (without just adding it to each day in a row) and 2. customize the color of the event highlight for different events (example: a calendar of classes, each last 3 or 4 days, and a different color highlight for the different class types) and lastly 3. to set the start month? If there is not a way to do any of this now, would it be possible in an update? Would love that! Thanks!!

Hello. Unfortunately 1 is not possible, you would have to add events on the days. However, if it were for classes that occurred regularly then you could set them up to happen on a certain day every week.

2 is possible but would require a knowledge of actionscript, I can help you if you message me.

3 is also possible with a small modification to the code.

Hi,

I’ve just purchased the calendar, could you tell me what you mean by ‘include the calendar.as file as shown in line 1.’? I’ve copied the calendar.main to my flash file, but it doesnt seem to linking to the .as file, as there are no dates showing on the calendar etc.

Could you let me know exactly what I need to do with the .as file?

Thanks Rob

I’d like to use this for a school website and would like to have it start at 9am and end at 3pm or 5 pm….is it easy to change these options in the file??

hey there, i really like the design. Is there any way to add images in addition to the text for the event details?

Posted 2 months ago

Hi – eirehotspur, the times for the events can be anything between 6am and 11pm, you specify the times in your XML (I’m a Spurs fan too by the way!!)

3demon – no, sorry images can’t be added unless it is with an (img src> tag, but I have found that to be unreliable in Flash. It may work though.

Rob, there is a line of actionscript that must be added to frame 1 of whatever clip you add the calendar.main clip to. That line is #include “calendar.as” this is just a way of the fla bringing in the code it needs to make the calendar work. You must also have the calendar.as file in the same directory as your fla at publish time.

By the way, I have a version avialable that lets you specify what colour you want a tile to be in the way sunnikins describes above. I don’t plan to release it but if you want that upgrade then contact me.
