HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesUtilitiesCalendar Gadget

This is a calendar component that can statically or dynamically display date entries from an XML file or SQL database via PHP . When paired with a SQL database and Web server, you can use the component to create, list, and delete calendar entries.

Release 1 Features:

  • Full month calendar with padded leading and trailing weeks
  • Allows static or dynamic display of events
  • Server-side scripts for allowing event read, creation, and deletion from MySQL
  • Can display 12 or 24 hour time
  • Simple XML configuration file for common options
  • Easy to understand, implement, and modify
  • Video and Text Documentation
  • Professional code and full instructions to setup and integrate the component

Included:

  • Source ActionScript, FLA , and SWF Files
  • Component Usage Instructions, API Documentation, and Instructional Video
  • XML Configuration File (Default) and Example File
  • Server-Side Upload Scripts (.php)
  • Database Installation Script (.sql)

Notes:

For FlashDen, this component is using a static XML file with the simulated ability to add and remove entries. This is to show what it would look like if connected to a backend database. If only using a static XML file for the source of the calendar entries, the add/delete buttons and forms would not be visible – you would only be able to view the entries.

perhaps you should mark the current date?

gametitan: Noted. Marking the current day wasn’t omitted unintentionally – there were considerations of how it should look in the grid, if a “go to today” button or something should be added, or if it even made sense at all for the type of event calendar this was designed as. In the end, it was left out to keep the interface that much more simple. That said, it is a good suggestion and will likely make an appearance in Release 2 as a stronger (user-defined color and alpha) halo around the current day. Thank you for the feedback.

Gam1: Sorry, AS3 only.

I’m looking for a calendar with the following:

- default “read only” mode - login and password for editing the calendar - having an “upcoming events” LIST view - support for recurring events

Your description says event listing, but I can’t tell from the example if it’s what I want.

BountyKiller: No, it doesn’t do what you would need. It has a read-only mode, but no in-control authentication, or list view, or recurring events.
