This highly advanced carousel has a lot of properties that you can easily change in the xml file. To show you the possibilities i added a lot of these options in the preview (click above ). Play around with the sliders to get some nice effects.

Some features that you can’t see in the preview:

- The linking has some nice properties. You can choose whether the link is an external URL , a frame number or a frame label. You can also set the target (either “_blank”, “_parent”, “_self” or “_top” when the link type is “URL”, or a movieclip reference (from _root) when it’s internal.

- Caption text (tooltip) can be set in the xml file.

- You can load not only image files, but also swfs.

Note: when you put a lot of images in there and images overlap they sometimes start flashing. This has been fixed in v2, see below

Look for window.open() syntaxis on google and try to implement it on the button of the photo_th movieclip.

JV, what’s up man? small problem, i re-sized the background, the entire .swf .. just the height to like 250.. and almost everything is still functional.. lost the capability of clicking on the targeted image and accessing a new page, it no longer has the hand cursor on the image in the front to go to a new webpage…. if you need to view what i’m talking about please email me at kade@kreativ.cn

Hi. Can you anyone tell me if this is easy enough to add in dynamic text fields/buttons on the main centre image? I would like to use this as banner sub menu which would link out to a gallery page. I would also like to add in a stroke which would change colour on the main centre image. Is this easy enough done? Cheers!

I love the file and had two questions.

1. I want the image to swap when on rollover and swap back on rollout. 2. Trying to make the images load a popup window when clicked.

I have tried using the codes suggested but it wont work. I am using FLASH 8

I am attempting to target a nested movieclip, or a timeline of a movieclip from a movieclip from the main timeline, from the carousel much like:

_root.containerMC.contentMC(“label”;

My xml looks like:

Yet it will not work. It traces the rotationKind=”1”. Is there a fix for this? Or a workaround?

However, it appears I can target a mc one the main timeline, but that is not acceptable for this particular situation.

Any help is appreciated. Also, is this something that is fixed in v2?

Also, is it possible to do the following:

A) target the links from outside the component; ie use a custom menu/buttons to control the rotations? Something I can design myself…

using that same concept, use onEnterframe on the main timeline to rotate to a specific image?

Fantastic file… thanks for the hard work!

One question… how hard is it to implement timing on this, where every X number of seconds the next photo automatically comes to the front, etc. without being tied into click or mouse movement? Of course it would be nice if the user could still click to go to the next photo in case they want to flip through them faster, but regardless the flipping would be done based on a time variable.

Hello,

Very nice carousel !!!

But I have an issue, maybe someone can help me… please…

When I change the images everything looks & works good…. But when I bring it into my html page… it loads the flash (cause I see the bar with the arrows but no thumbnails…

Is there something I’m not doing well or suppose to do?

Hello, I am looking to use this for a project that I am working on but have a few questions regarding the file.

Instead of images, I’m looking to use movie clips with an action associated on click. I would like to add an action that allows on(release) { call a movie clip }. The action will be a pop up window within the flash. Also I have a significant amount of items I would like to incorporate, about 30. If anyone could give me some insight as to how the file is set up I would be great full. Please let me know if you think that this file would be adequate for the idea I am proposing. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jurgenv, Quite long ago I request your help, now is the time to help me again. here is the page you can see my problem

I don’t have the reflection for the pictures, and there’s only one botton in the center, there is the arrows left and right, I also don’t see the tooltip.

Can you please help me what I am doing wrong or cutting peaces somewhere? Thanks

Bought your fantastic carousel some time ago, now I try to pass the name of the datafile dynamically to the flash which I tried with a query parameter like “viewer.swf?datafile=test.xml” In the flash designer I painted a textbox to print the variable to make sure that it has been passed correctly (and the label ‘test.xml’ is displayed). Then I tried to replace the xml.load function with the variable, but the images won’t be shown! Can you please give me a hint how to solve this? Thanks a lot in advance. By the way, all files are stored in the same directory…

Just add larger images to the carousel, they will automatically get the right size.
