Compact Image Viewer

The Compact Image Viewer is a great way to show featured items or images when you don’t have much space! It’s perfect for HTML or Flash websites. Use it as an image gallery, a portfolio, latest news, etc! It has many great features…

It is updated by editing an XML file. It’s very easy! Add as many items as you like!

you can easily resize the news viewer to any size just by changing the width and height within the XML document!

you can also resize both the thumbnail images and full size images within the XML document!

change the colour of the headings, links, rollover effects, etc just by changing the values in the XML document!

The full item caption can contain HTML text. CSS styles for links (with hover!) are already set up for you in the flash file.

You can add unlimited items with automatic scrolling on mouse over. If the full item captions are long scroll arrows appear so you can scroll down and view the whole article.

yes it can load swfs. I havn’t tested it with mike’s xml editor but I assume it would work.

I was wondering if theres a way to make it load videos..like youtube? in the large view window.

5starrebel, you would need to create a swf with the video embedded in it, then load the swf as you would an image.

When I test movie in flash all the fonts are Arial. However, when I publish the file and place in my website all the fonts are times. Any suggestions

Hi terb, this is a strange problem i’ve had a couple of people report, and I think they managed to get it working by changing the fonts to something else and then back to arial again.

Pedro_Games, whatever you set for the heading colour will be what the gradient colour is.

Hi i just puchased this file,

i also got the news viewer and thought this is even better so i bought this one aswell.

however i’m not really satisfied because when i don’t want to load an image the preloader still runs and also the text is somewhere in the middle .

is there a way to use this file with and without images ?

Allison, you are right, it will conflict with the hover. It is possible to modify it so that it doesnt conflict. Or if you are wanting when you click the thumbnail area for it to open up a link rather than going to the 2nd page, that is also possible with a little modification. I will be on holidays for the next 2 weeks, but I can help you out with this when I return.

Was looking forward to using this for my news items.

Has anyone came accross a strange problem with this is IE.

I resize the width to 498 and the height to 328 in the xml I resize the flash file size in Dreamweaver to 498×328.

I want the reader flush with both left and right.

When I preview in Firefox it shows as designed.

When I press play in Dreamweaver the entire flash file shows around 350px width.

In Internet Explorer 6&7 the flash file is 498 width but the flash compact newsreader in around 350px width.

Whats going on it IE with this?

I just want to use this as a simple scroller with the pics linking to other pages within my site. I have no use for the “fullItem” so how do I exclude it from the “compact image viewer” and how do I make it so that each thumb links to another page?
