Just Great

really nice. Any known problems with special characters like äöü ? Thx. Julia

intertrad0 – The fonts that are currently used are Impact & Arial, so as long as the characters you need are a part of the font family being used they should show up fine.

Currently the text fields aren’t set to embed all characters, but you can easily change that (to get the special characters to show) by opening the NewsItem movie clip, selecting the textfields, and selecting Embed -> All.

I did this and tried a bunch of special characters and they all showed up correctly.

is it possible to add images instead together with the text?

Posted 2 months ago

carlw – The only place you can add images is one spot on the left for each news item. It’s only set up for text for the content of the news items.

Can I make it so there are 2 columns? Like 3 news items on the left and 3 on the right?

Posted about 1 month ago

dgc – It’s only set up for 1 column.

Hi JoeMC,

if this is AS3 could I publish it as an Air file to use as a desktop product also?

Thanks in advance

Sambora – I haven’t worked much with Air, but I believe that is possible. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work.

Well done! I like it very much.

2 questions: - how do I need to change the code to be able to scroll by mousewheel? - is it possible to show the images in a bigger size?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Okay, I found out, the mousewheel function doesn’t work with a MAC -System. :’-(

But the image size is still a problem. How can I change it?

thanks, Dave

Dave – I’ll take a look into the Mac mouse wheel. I’ve heard that there is some way to get it to work. As for the image size, it is possible to adjust, but there are certain lines of code that also need to be adjusted. Send me an email and let me know what size you would like your images to be and I can help you out.

Wow, nice file. How did I miss this one in August 2008?
Can you make the links _blank or are they all _self? If we do have the option is it global or custom for each link?
Also are the XML variables editable for each news topic or is it for the entire library of topics? What I mean is, is each topic editable in XML , can we make each header a different color and each background a different color for that news topic?, etc. If you show an example of XML file I guess I can see myself. =)

Oh and the Mac scroll fix would be nice =)

@diveloper – You can make each link act differently (_self, _blank, _parent, _top).

Currently the XML variables that you are talking about are global, but it would be a pretty easy modification that I could help you with. It would just take a little adjustment to the ActionScript & having to add extra tags/attributes to the XML .

And I’ll get on the Mac Mouse Wheel… I’ve been busy with other stuff, so it got put on the back burner.

Hope that helps. Let me know if/when you purchase and I can help with the modification.
