Hi Chuck,

Great menu, easy to use – this file has been a great-value buy.

I have an issue with the xml path – the menu works great as long as the web page with menu is in the same folder as the swf file.

If i put the web page in a sub-folder, the menu appears but won’t load the xml file.

I have tried changing the xml path (line 41) from a relative path menuXml.load(“menu.xml”; to a path from the root folder menuXml.load(”/menu.xml”; and also tried putting my domain name in menuXml.load(“http://www.mydomain.com/menu.xml”;

It still won’t load the xml file when the menu appears on a page in a sub-folder, while the menu is out in the root folder.

Any suggestions?

Woops. Don’t worry. Looks like my Flash wasn’t publishing right, or Dreamweaver wasn’t overwriting the old swf when I uploaded it each time.

Everything is working fine with the paths I mentioned above.

BY THE WAY – EVERYONE SHOULD BUY THIS MENU if you haven’t already. It’s the quickest, easiest menu to configure, and actually works easily with minimal edits.

Compared to other menus on here, (and I’ve tried a few for my clients), this one wins out.

Hey Chuck what is up with the bg.jpg file? If I remove it only the first menu node with its submenus show up. Actually if I remove the background layer it does not work or the bg.jpg. Help!!!!

that`s really strange! i am also amazed no one else has picked up on this! try changing lines 32 and 33 to this:

mask._width = Stage.width;
mask._height = Stage.height;

Dear Chuck, I already bought your file and send you an e-mail about my problem.

I figure a lot out but several problems still the same: The menu should have a length of 980pxl, I will have 9 main buttons.

So only 7 buttons are shown and when I resize the button and also the subbutton leght I have a lot of space between each button and still only shown 7 buttons.

Also I want to add sound in 2 different types: -sound 1 when you go over the main buttons -sound 2 when you go over the sublevels

But worked not out. Can you help me to run your great file? Waiting for your answer, really thanks a lot Tom

please remember support is free..

anyway:

1) sounds like you just need to resize your stage to 980px or am i missing something? I not sure why you would have alot of space between the buttons but make sure you are resizing everything, there is a layer called shad, unlock it and make sure ti resized too.

2) sorry but as you can see from the preview the file does not support sound and i don`t do freelance work. But really its very easy, look up how to add sound on any normal button then just add the code to the onRollOver events

3) sounds like you are putting the menu in a html site? not sure how you are embeding but you need to set the wmode to transparent. (look up swfobject)

This menu was really easy to work with and customize. I make a few changes to allow for buttons that can have their own rollover color. I will be adding the functionality to have either a link or movie called in the geturl.

For those that have bad mouthed this menu, learn a little actionscripting before you say this piece sucks. With a little thought and skill, you can do anything you want with this menu.

Hi there, I am trying to trying to make this into a text only menu without any boxes. I have not been able to get the menu titles really close to each other, like 5-10 px or something. I also want to decrease the line height. Unsuccessfully changing line 103. Any ideas?

thanks for your file and also thanks for your great support!!

It helps and worked out!!!

But I have a small problem and I hope you understand what I mean:

I imported your file in a html/php side. The height of the menu incl. opend subs are now 345pxl. So when I place the menu at top of the side it works but everything until the height of 345pxl is blocked for the swf menu file.

That means I have different other hyperlinks under the menu which are inside the html/php file. Now I cannot click on these ones anymore because only the swf menu file is active to click.

Under the hight of 345 pxl it´s still working.

How can I do it that I can click on both ones, menu links and the links inside my side.

I hope you understand my problem and you can help me!!!

this menu uses a fixed width for each button, so what you are after is not possible. I have other menus that use the width of the text.

I think i understand what you mean. Unfortunately having a flash menu over html links is pretty hard to get working in all browsers. I think the only way is do something clever with javacript – sorry you are going to have to do some research.

Hi Chuckanucka,

This is a great file and I’ve been able to customize it so the text widths scale but I have encountered a time-out issue.

The drop-down menus time out when you quickly move the cursor amongst the top-level navigation and leave your cursor on the main button for 1-second.

Hi Chuck,

A couple of questions:

I had to resize the MainBtn ans subBtn movie clips to fit into my project, but when I tested the movie and move my mouse over the drop down buttons, the menu occasionally scrolls up as if I moved the mouse off the menu. Any idea how to fix that? I’m sure I forgot to adjust something.

Second, the drop down buttons go to labeled frames within the flash file. The drop-down menu stays on the screen until you roll off it, which looks a little odd. Is there a way to add code that rolls up the menu as soon as you clcik on a button?

Hi again, I’m am loading it as an external swf so I am having trouble with it closing after being clicked, it also stays open if you move out to the right, or too quickly.
