Dynamic XML Menu (AS3) with submenu's

This is a dynamic XML Menu fully written in AS 3 .0 (Flash CS3 ) with submenu’s.

In the preview you can play with some settings ot see how it works. I have to note that most links have the target ‘_blank’ so open in a new window. Except in the third menu the first submenu, (in the .xml I have set the target to ‘_self’ there).
Also in the preview if you scale it could be rollovers don’t work as desired, but that’s because the textfields from the settings run over it. It’s works like a charm outside the preview.

Nice to know :

Inside a movieclip (so drag ‘n drop ‘n done)
Manual explains how to add menu’s and such and how to make use of the flashvars !
Usage of Actionscript 3.0 (to implement in your newest sites)
Very lite ! (95% code, now it’s 36kb just because all font’s are embedded)
Easy to customize the looks, animation, ...
No need to re-color all movieclips, just change a variable and done !

Requirements

Flash CS3
Basic knowledge from xml (but it’s also explained in the tutorial)

99- I purchased your mail form and it’s a keeper. Few questions about the dynamic sub nav.

Can fonts change and with backdrop? Can selected button/font glow or appear highlighted when selected? Can the opacity of the overlays be controlled. Can the navigation be sized to better fit the width of a site page?

Hello Ninitynine i just bought your nice menu XML …. but i have a probleme using the tween class. each time a import the tween it crashes on Publish. Have you ever had this kind of problem?

No I never had this kind of problem. What error do you get? Check if all files are in this folder :

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS3 \en\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\Classes\fl

I’m a designer, I can’t write code (and never want to learn). I bought this to help me make a quick menu and spend more time designing. After a few hours I still can’t get it to do anything, I wasted more time trying and surfing looking for answers to no avail, what a waste of time for me. This stuff should come with a warning, Programmers Only! Way TOO complicated for artists, (stooges).

Me need more simple, me not want read. Make my ship go.

very nice layout .. great button creation.

....But very hard to implement in anything other than a website header. I wanted to used this in a Swf and have the buttons load external swf’s or FLvs into a vid component. other than linking to website urls I cant get it to do what I intended.

TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. at 99_fla::MainTimeline/loaded() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction() at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent() at flash.net::URLLoader/onComplete()

huh… you state this:

Unlimited menu’s Unlimited submenu’s

but it’s only 2 levels, unlimited submenus lead me to believe that this was a recursive menu with ‘unlimited submenus’

I’m really pretty disappointed and wish I could get my 8 dollars back ;-(

You should be more clear and state…

a 2 level menu with unlimited menu items and unlimited submenu items
