This is a good file but the AS is not really commented to well.
I have integrated sound and an auto play functionality, so it can be modified.

As quicky has quickly abandoned the building it seems, were you able to disable mouse scroll??
Posted 3 months ago
I got a fairly decent file from it once I was finished.
I removed all the stage left and right stuff and mouse scroll.
I needed a file like that for a job that had to be done in 2 hours.
I had to break it apart and remove most of the stage relative code, but in the end the code was grand.
I just don’t see why Flash Den let people put files up with no code comments, especially stuff like this which is really good, but just badly commented.

I know what you mean. Also think there are some files underpriced here…..lots of potential to take some of them and really go to town on them and make them great but I suppose support for them would take too much time.
Like this file and will be getting it.
How do you use it then…..just with the links on the bottom and slide effects?

Flash Den have now made code comments mandatory, so hopefully we will see no more cryptic files.

I get this error message, and can’t work with the file.
Scene=Scene 1, layer=actions, frame=1, Line
Error opening include file timeline.as: File not found.
The .as file is in the folder….?

Alright guys! I got several mail regarding an “pseudo-error” which says that flash could not include timeline.as file (could not be found – blabla).
How can we fix this “error”?
Just try to keep the timeline.as file into the same directory with the swf file. Why that? Because the action script code was written in a different file(let’s call it special AS file) and this file is imported (included) everytime we play the swf. This is the professional way to do it
So everytime you upload your timeline swf file on a server, upload also all this external AS files, XML ’s and all that stuff. Hope I was clear enough
Any other questions are wellcome!
Thank you!

all files are located in the same place, the xml, all .as files. when i open the .fla to the .swf goes to blank….and i still get the ”#include “timeline.as” error.
i can’t image this being right….please advise.

Hey, thanks for the great file. Nice job.
I’ve been looking for something like this for a long while now.
Future Dev ideas:
- Optional linkable images - Some way to break up the text for formatting (maybe not so easy) - Integrated preloader (though I can probably add my own easily enough)
Question:
How do I make the year buttons larger without messing up the whole thing?
I’ve increased the numbers text block; but I’d like the year buttons to be larger entirely.
Thank you!

Great…
How do I preview this file locally off my desktop?
It only displays the arrows, It isn’t loading the content.
When I download the file from Flashden’s download window, the SWF file and HTML file preview fine. However, if i open the FLA file and try preview the file it does nothing? I have not moved any files???
Any clues? – I only use flash from a creative point of view and am no real master.
Cheers

hi there, nice file qb. I’ve been having a play around with it and found it mostly pretty straight forward to modify. I’m trying to implement it as a full screen swf that scales in relation to the stage height (so I can use big images). One problem I’m having is that when scaling the container and maintaining the aspect ratio, the hmenu buttons move the container to the wrong place. I’ll try to figure it out but if you have a quick fix I’d be much obliged! Ta.

Love this file. I needed a quick way to do a timeline and I just added illustrations for each year. In the external actionscript, I commented out the scroll feature as I needed the year buttons to work the timeline function. One thing I did need badly was a way to format the XML to add links, bold text and also use quotes. Otherwise, a nice file that’s easy to edit.

Ok – you can ignore my last inquiry, now that i have purchased and taken a look around, I am not going to try that one.
But – for some reason, when I change the font, it causes the numbered dates (Large and small) to dissappear. I like your district thin, but require using something lightly different for this project. Please let me know what i need to do in order to use a different font.
Thanks! Shawna
