I was wondering if you have a version of this that uses server side time instead of the users local system time? if not would you be willing to make one?

Thanks

bryanbowen: currently no – right now the file relies on the Flash Date Object and methods which are relative to the local time determined by the operating system on which Flash Player is running.

When I have some time to update this file, I’ll look into the Date.UTC method which uses universal time. Maybe this will eliminate the need to check the time on the server (?) I imagine that checking server time every second could present problems (?)

I’m not sure when I’ll be able to work on v2 – hopefully soon…

I would like to know how I can disable it to appear in full screen and adjust to it’s exact pixels so I can “skin/theme” around this in the dead center of the screen.

So I guess my question is to only limit the flash to the middle of the screen, at the exact size of the clock, and leave the rest around it HTML . Can someone help me?

Hi, could you tell me how to rezise the counter please.. im not sure how i do it. Thanks

It is very nice and easy in use

Like jefflombardo I’m trying to use this in a colum which is only 320 pixels wide. Is it possible to contain the counter to a set width and height so that it fits at the top of a column?

Any help would be great

Click here to see how to embed Flash files using SWFObject v2.0. The SWFObject file is included in the ZIP file.

If you view the source and look for this line:

swfobject.embedSWF(“countdown_flip_2days.swf”, “flashcontent”, “160”, “37”, “8.0.0”, false, flashvars, params, attributes);

…you can see how the SWF ’s width (“160”;) and height (“37”;) have been scaled down to 50%

If you look at the CSS file you’ll see how the SWF has been centred vertically and horizontally in the browser window.

Thanks very much, I tried changing those settings originally but I put px after the measurements and that did not seem to work.

Works perfectly without the px

thanks once again

I have this running on a site and it’s great. I have a problem with SSL . Whenever we load a page with ssl that has the countdown timer on it throws a “some items on this page are not secure” error.

Any ideas?

Hi there,

Great file.

One question how can you add a var stroke to the numbers that will be editable in the xml sheet ?

Cheers.

Posted 18 days ago

gwhite83: there’s no stroke around the numbers – you’d have to edit the FLA in Flash to add that in…

Posted 18 days ago

When ever i add a stroke to newly imported verctor numbers. it gets removed when i play the movie.

Posted 17 days ago

If fact it doesn’t remove it. It just colours it the same as the numbers colour. hmmm anyway around that ?

Posted 17 days ago

got it figured :)

Posted 17 days ago

Oh ok, good! Yeah – Flash will tint the entire numbers MovieClip so if you add a stroke around an individual number it will get tinted as well. You’d have to add the stroke in another MovieClip on top of the numbers MovieClip (if that makes sense).

I tried setting soundFXvolume to 0 for no sound but it doesn’t seem to be working. It’s still ticking. Any ideas?
