Version Two Released

\

This is a membership system built in flash that uses PHP / MySQL to manage users. You are able to register a new user and login. This will keep track of user names, md5 encrypted passwords, first names, last names and emails. Before registering the user, it checks if the username has already been taken and if it has, return a result that says the user already exists.

Files included: 1. createUsersTable.sql – run this query in your favorite MySQL admin tool to make the table. Everything is setup to go.

2. connect.php – This will be the only PHP file you MUST configure. This contains your host, username, password and database name variables.

3. register.php

4. login.php

5. register.fla – Their are two variables you must change on the root timeline for this to work. loginLoc and regLoc. These point to the paths of the PHP files on your server.

You dont HAVE to edit the register or login PHP files unless you are planning on adding more fields or want to change the response text inside of flash.

The main components of this application consist of text fields, the login button and the register button. Thats all!

It can easily be configured to do whatever you would like. This working preview simply goes to the “Protected” frame if the username and password match up.

Go ahead, register and give it a try!

The table in use:

\ EDIT : Posted by EDG “is there a way to fix it so you cant right click and press play to get into it?”

I kind of overlooked this, but a simple solution is in your publish settings, click the HTML tab and uncheck “Display Menu”

Almost finished with version 2 of this. It will have both of the options you just mentioned.

When will that be avalable? I cant wait :)

Posted 9 months ago

I’ve completed everything. I just need to fix the way the user is doing the ‘forgot password’ procedure. Right now its kind of insecure in a sense that the way the user confirms that their password should change shows a URL that has the usersname in the string making it easily interchangable in putting someone else’s username in the string. I believe I know a fix for it. I’ll let you know when its up/done.

would´t that just be easier if you just send the password to user? I mean the same password that user has entered when he/she registers??? what the user needs to do is just to enter his E-mail address and then you can send his password by E-mail..

The thing is, MD5 encryption is one way. You could essentially store the password unencrypted and do what you suggested, but not encrypting a password opens a big door to security issues.

I see. then let me know when you are done, I will buy that from you ;)

Is there a way for the site admin. to view all information submitted in the user profiles?

Posted 9 months ago

Yes it is possible, but do check out my version two of this. It has many more options available. There is a link in my profile or in the first post of this file.

I typed just mumbo jumbo in all text fields and and enter the secured area just like that… Doesint seem 2 secure to me.

Posted 6 months ago

it will accept any mumbo jumbo when you register…just like any other registration system usually..now try entering some mumbo jumbo in the login field. Also my version 2 of this is a lot better..check it out.

Can I ad a payment method for the registry? If so how do I do it?

Posted 5 months ago

I checked out version two, nice. I didn’t however see anything about integrating commerce into it (a payment method) I’ve never done the e commerce thing. The merchant account is getting set up and the bank tells me it will be done with xml, is that easy to integrate if I do it? Can you point me to a site that could tell me how to do it?

Posted 5 months ago

I’ve never done ecommerce in flash so sorry I cant help you with that. If its XML , flash is very good at using xml.
