Very nice effect. Can you specify the starting and / or end points? Can you add text and / or links? Any specific image size required?

When I have the time I am going to try to put together a gallery, image text, and link version. This file is simply the next step in my burn effect series. Here is the first: Single Image Burns Effect

You can designate the size of the gallery window in the xml. After you picked the dimensions, it is best to use an image that is slight larger in both width and height. It is all explained in the documentation.

Let me know what features you may or may not want in the next rendition.

can you use swf files instead of images? i have a specific idea in mind…

the file is not set up for swf, i guess you could try to go into the file and edit what loads in. i can talk you through that code if you want.

nice but:

the lake/trees image is shorter in width than the stage width, and so you can see a black “nothing” coming from the right. Does the script check for sizes and adjusts speeds/directions?

Posted about 1 month ago

no. it is meant to mimic the apple screen saver which has the same effect (black around the images), you can fix this with three solutions 1) make sure your images are at least as big as the dymamic stage you create 2) adjust the scale setting inside the xml to oversize your images a little bit 3) shorten the delay of the show. images will continue to shrink throughout the slide show. the faster the transition you create, the smaller the chance of seeing black.

There is random displacement (x,y) and scale happening, so you may not be able to fix it 100% of the time, but if your images and scale setting are big enough, you will most likely never see black around the images.

All this and more is in the documentation. Thanks for looking.

at fsoda:

currently the slide show loops. i can look into removing that feature in a later rendition.

Very noice file.

@ digitaldevilry – i retract my early comment… This file cannot be used with swfs very easily, since it makes every image a bitmap image to allow smooth scaling. Thanks.

nice job, very artistic

hmmmm, I could not get it to work.

The window stays black.

Even by executing the file kenburns_multiple.swf or the kenburns.html included in the zip.

can you post? are your folder names correct? you should be able export from flash to get it to work.

Posted about 1 month ago

i think you have to post it online to work. it is probably not able to read the xml locally. if you export from flash or put it online it should work. please email through my profile. It is important to me that you are a satisfied customer.

@ boobbs – ok. i think i see the issue. the html file that i included in the source is actually looking for a swf file with a different name. so you can either rename the swf to: kenburns_multi_fd.swf, or edit the html file. sorry about that.

please write back to let me know if that is the issue and to everyone who has bought so far: thanks and please rate.

I’m trying to use one .swf on several pages, with each showing a different gallery. To do this I am trying to pass variables to it via flashvars, something I’ve done many times before, but with no success this time. I’ve found the variable necessary to change (movieID) and adjusting its value manually works fine, but I simply can’t get the var into the .swf from the html. I’ve looked all around and can find no reason that this should be a problem. Ideas?
