You can change most of the text right from the XML . The only text you can’t change from the XML would be text that is part of the interface, like on buttons or tooltips.

The grey color of the interface is not designed to be changed. Most of it could be done by simply recoloring movie clips in the library. But some things, such as the buttons, are images that cannot be easily recolored.

Yes, you can load the image gallery into another SWF file. I’ve recently updated the file to make this as easy as possible. The image gallery can now detect if it is inside another movie, and it will resize to the dimensions of the parent movie clip. It will also automatically apply a mask to itself.

Just remember that the minimum size is 700×584.

The number of thumbnails is defined on line #40 of the Actionscript on frame 5. However, it would be a huge change to implement on the file, and would likely require many lines of the code to be rewritten. You would definitely need the Flash IDE to make the changes.

1) You can load the gallery into a smaller movie clip. So you could easily create a Flash object inside a table, just remember that the minimum size is 700×584. However, the gallery will probably not resize automatically if the size of the table cell changes.

2) The color can be changed, but not automatically. You would have to manually recolor each of the movie clips that make up the gallery. A few buttons are bitmaps, and you may have to deal with those as well.

3) Each button is designed for different functionality, and their specific function is defined in the XML . You can also include as many, or as few option buttons as you wish. That is also controlled automatically via XML . The text is defined in the Actionscript, and the icons are simply different frames in a movie clip.

4) The email function is simply a “mailto” command (it does NOT use a backend language such as PHP ). This means you would need to overhaul the email function in order to add an attachment.

5) Nope. You can put the pictures in a folder. In fact, you even have the option to define the default image directory in the XML . This means that you don’t have to type the file path for each image, and you can change the file path easily.

I haven’t seen this bug on Firefox 2 or 3 for Windows. Also, there are actually 2 different fullscreen modes that the gallery uses. If the regular fullscreen mode fails (for example, from an old Flash version) the second fullscreen mode should kick in automatically. I’m not sure why this is not happening for you; it sounds like it could be a hardware problem (fullscreen mode may use your graphics card directly). However, with a quick change of the code, we can force the second fullscreen mode to always be used. Since the backup fullscreen mode works differently, it should fix the problem.

3) Do you want to have several MP3 files displayed, in a similar manner to images? If so, you can load SWF files into the gallery just like images. Simply load a SWF with an MP3 player inside it. If you were thinking of background music instead, then check out one of my other files called “Switch MP3 Player”. You can find it by clicking on my name and then browsing through my portfolio.

Please read the instructions (PDF) that came with the file. You can easily turn option buttons on and off with the XML .

You can use any file type for the “Download Hi-Res” button. Simply follow the directions for adding an email address. It should be easy enough. Click on my name and send me an email using the form at the bottom of the page if you have any questions.
