MP3D PLAYER

Full_screen_preview

This is a MP3 player that is built using the papervision3D classes. It loads in music from an external folder and uses a .txt file to specify the music. All the graphics are vector and can be changed easily. This player supports unlimited tracks and will go to the next track upon finishing the current one. You can also adjust the volume, skip forward and back tracks, pause the music, and stop the music. The display panel read the ID3 tags of your mp3’s meaning you don’t need any xml or txt files to specify them just give the music ID3 tags. The equalizer is an actual equalizer and doesn’t just loop and over and over again. The papervision classes used in this file are included along with instruction on how to install them. All the code is well documented but if you do have any problems feel free to email me at: spamer1234@hotmail.com

UPDATE JUNE 22 : changed the visual aspect and improved some performance issues.

Check me out!

Nice idea for the use of Papervision. It needs a custom camera control though. That stock one that rotated the camera view by mouse position makes navigation of controls very difficult.

And it crashed Firefox both times i ran it. (FF3) First time it ran for one and a half songs then froze FF. (it threw out an error as it changed songs) When it froze I had to CTRL -ALT-DEL close FF in the Task Manager. Second time it just crashed FF and closed the browser window without warning just after I stopped and restarted the first track.

And while rotating the view slowly (especially with the mouse button held down) it would temporarily drop the frame rate radically when the view is close to edge-on. (I think this is a bug in Papervision rendering)

hmm im also using FF3 (the latest version) and i haven’t had any of those problems, And i don’t think i have more ram than you i only have 512. But i know what you mean about the frame dropping unfortunately papervision uses a lot of RAM to render the scene 30 times a second. Ill look into that error that you get when it changes tracks, but iv never seen it before.

Also i might build a version 2 with a custom camera control, they just take a long time to perfect. I tried to slow down the rotation as much as possible while still keeping the 3D effect of the rotation.

Kind of hard to control..and then USB port does not work..is it USB 2 .0 orrrrr….?

Posted 2 months ago

It’s a nice idea for an animation, but for a real MP3 player…. i dunno, it’s kind of difficult to use.

rondog its actually USB 1337 .0 unfortunately no devices have been developed yet that support that USB version, but on the bright side if you find one that works it has a transfer rate of 100 terabytes per second

Nythe im actually working on an improved interface for rotating the player, and i updated the graphics to make them different colors.
