this is awesome!!
Download SWF for best preview and more functions (recommend).
Real version runs much faster than preview one since I attach many UI components in preview version to give you a show.
Description:
Version 6: So you want to flip image in Flash? This file is what you are looking for, and not only flipping, you can also rotate images around a vertical axis or horizontal axis. Images are flipped/rotated in real 3d. And as I said before, XML data or Internal data.

Hey … im wondering if this could be used with a sequence of images that are double sided and loaded from the xml file ? Sort of like a a bunch of cards in a row, if you click one of them, it could flip over to view the backside of the card ? Is that something thats possible with this ? its pretty slick !!

Hello, it’s possible to have a flipping card with 2 sides. In preview file, when rolling over the image, you’ll see it flip to the other side.

Hey RimV, I would like to buy this file. I need to use it multiple times in a single flash file though, so my question is this: is this possible the way you have the swf set-up right now? Please let me know using the contact page on my profile. Thanks m8!
Hi RimV,
I bought this file and I love it! But…I’m still a little new to flash. I’ve placed an instance of the component into a scene, and for some reason in addition to a correctly functioning flip movie….it also sticks one of the “pics” into the top left corner. It is always there in the same place no matter where I place the instance. Is there any reason why it would be tacking this additional image into my movie. Please help me
Hi,
Can you explain how I would go about creating a simple effect where an image flips over three times to reveal three different images contained in the library. I have three jpg, which I have converted to movieclips, in the library; I have given these linkage id’s, such as 1_mc,2_mc,3_mc, set Internal Source to true, as well as Auto Play.
I have given the component an instance name and put it on the stage. I am trying to configure it to simply play through the flipping animation at a set rate, after which I will try to just fade it out and remove it from the stage.
My ultimate goal is to be able to have this simple three image flip effect play in response to a cuepoint in an .flv video inside of the same .swf.
Imagine for instance a car commercial where a person in the flv says “we have cars, trucks, and skateboards”. The idea is that, in synch with that, an image would flip to reveal pictures of, well, a car, a truck and a skateboard.
Does that seem feasible?
So far, when I test my movie, I see the first image, but it just sits there. How can I trigger timed behavior such as I have described above?
Thanks for your hard work.

You can send me the files then I’ll have a look at it (email address in my profile page)

Thanks a lot.
I will send the file once I have done enough homework to feel like I can submit something to you that kes a certain degree of sense.
In the meantime, can you answer a more general question? In the past, I have been able to make headway into component architecture by dragging an instance onto the stack and clicking into it so that I could examine the actionscript. Is this not possible with this component? If not, is that a reflection of a more general change in the way components are compiled? It’s been a while since I’ve worked with Flash, and it is apparent that much has changed, my own density notwithstanding.
Thanks again.

Basically, you just only need to drag and drop the Component to the stage and adjust all the parameters via Component Inspector. It could however take a while to set all the paramertes properly (see documentation included to get more infor about each param)

Is there anyway to make the this auto rotate once or twice or rotate to a duration of time (like every few seconds) by palcing it on frames in the timeline rather than have it rotate only on a mouseover or by clicking a button?

It’s possible by using the changeTo(id) method of the Component. There was some script simple in preview file, you can have a look at it to see how it was implemented.

Is it possible to have two or more items roating at one time? I tried dragging two components on to the stage but even when I adjust the 29) Datasource parameter, and create new movie clips to point to, they come up as duplicate (showing the same movieclips-pictures)

FYI
1. On the xml based file:
when I look in the preview folder there is a data2.xml file. Modifying this file to a .jpg of a different size shows the image with a triangle masking half of the image. Only if the file is the smae size as the examples does it show properly.
2. This is not an issue with the Internal source .fla, I can chaange the size of the images, import them, adjust component parameters and they work.
3. rotating more than one instance of the compenent doesn’t work, for example if you have them side by side like two identocal propellers or wind mills.
4. Using loadmovie to load the exported .swf into another flash movie doens’t work.
5. Your support is alittle vague as far as my provious question, rather than using “using the changeTo(id) method of the Component.” I found it was easier to achieve what I wanted by deleting the actionscript for the eventlisteners, for the rollover and rollout to make the jpg flip automatically.
Conclusion: This is great for those who want to rotate one instance of the component at exactly the size of the image on the demo using the exact parameters to change the style of the rotation.

Indeed, there are Plane Width and Plane Height parameters where you can modify to resize the dimension of image. Please read the documetation included to know how.
Other features can be achieved but require some effort.

The component still can not support flipping swf or movie clip. Wait to my next version with PV3D and AS3

Hi, Got this file , read the above posts and a few people have noted that it doesn’t work with multiple instances on the stage. I’m having the same issue. Is there any way around this? I want 3 at a time.

Hi, great file. Is there any way to assign the xml dynamically. like nameComponent.xmlpath=someVariable?
thanks

Sorry for the previous message. For some reason it didn’t post right.
This is the issue i’m having. if the images i’m going to use are on the same level as the xml, everything is fine. if the images are in some folder, which i reference on the xml, it doesn’t work. Am i doing something wrong? any solution? thanks again.

@flashdan:
Normally if you refer the images url in XML correctly, it should work. Please check it again

I am a beginner with Flash and wanted to know if there is a simple way to make this auto rotate or rotate every few seconds rather than by mouse over or by clicking the image?
