HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesPHP Dynamic Session Counter

A unique PHP Hit/Session Counter for your website. This counter dynamically self-updates while detecting the number of individual users currently viewing your site as well as counting the total hits.

Features

  • Detects total number of unique online user sessions.
  • Records total visitors.
  • Auto refreshes within seconds.
  • Well documented.
  • Easily able to be modified.
  • Works with PHP 4 .1+
  • Does not require MySQL
  • A working version can be found HERE

- Important Notes -
- Line 2 (.php file) – Make sure your $cfiledir directory path begins and ends with ”/” ... also make sure you use your complete directory structure:

(ie. $cfiledir = '/var/usr/f/fisch79/www/sessions/')
- Line 4 (.fla file) – Do not change IF both .swf and .php files are located in the root site directory.
- Recommendation: (.php file) Change the $sess_timeout variable to a lower number (i.e. 30 or 60 or 180) for quicker updated “online” stats.

do i need to create a database on a server… or what I must do?

would be good if I just could copy and paste it in my website and it starts counting :D

Posted about 1 month ago

Hmmm…doesn’t seem to work. Just displays “1” visitor and “blank” for online users.

iDraw: A DB does not need to be created. The count actually is recorded in a txt file. Its simple… The “online” count is all session file counts.. All you need is a single read/write directory.

modnarus: Please send me info on your type of setup via here: http://flashden.net/user/fisch79 .. Problem may be with your directory setup.

Thanks

Hi Have same problem as modnarus. visitor 1 and online blank

the sessions directory is set to 777 and so is the main directory

yogananda:: This usually is because your ”$cfiledir” value is wrong.. As posted above under important notes..

ie.. $cfiledir = '/var/usr/f/fisch79/www/sessions/'

This should be your complete php file directory structure.. you may have to find out from your hosting company.

Someone change my hit visitor number on my counter.txt ??Directly on my server. Am i wrong.

Can i protect my counter to prevent any unwanted alterations of my hit numbers?

Posted 12 days ago

Buiss: The visitor would need access to your server in order change the file. If your very concerned you can change the name the of the .txt file and also change it in the .fla (line 2 or 4) as well. That will help.
