PRELOADER FX
A simple scripted preloader using Flash 8 effects. Easy to use, simply drop the preloader movieclip in the first frame of your movie and add a stop() action.

Digital, could you make the preview file a video rather than the actual preloader, All I see is 100 for a millisecond and then it goes to the movie loaded section…

hmm… u must have a really fast connect xdozex…. I can’t change the file now its too late… but it’s works 
lol ya I have a dedicated fiberoptic line…just did a speed test at speakeasy.net and I’m running at 24.7mb/s, so whenever people upload real preloaders it flashes for a second and I see the “movie loaded” screen. I honestly cant tell you the last time I saw a real preloader loading a real file…its good but at the same time it sort of sucks. hehe, I was just asking because I was curious if it did anything besides just count?

it’s a dynamic text file so you can change it to any font you like… just make sure you embed the characters you need.

Not being a flash expert I was wondering how preloaders actually work, I have designed my website and when I try to access it online, it takes a while to load, therefore I know I need a preloader.
Where do I put it and how does it then go on to play my movie?

One other very quick question, this file is 245kb when virtually every other pre loader is between 0 and 25 kb what effect does this have?
Does it simply mean the preloader will take longer to download?

Hi I tried using it on a couple of things, there was no other scripting in the first frame to interfere with the preloader but it didnt work? I followed the directions as shown with the file and put the MC on the stage in the first frame, put a stop and on the second frame started my content? am I missing something?
@dvusdesigns, sounds odd – tell me exactly what is happening and how you are testing it.

@csr500, the preloader element itself is only 10kb, the reason why the published size is 245kb is because of the music track I’ve added in so that you can see the preloader working in the preview. Otherwise if I just had the preloader in the preview it would probably go from 0 to 100 as it is only loading 10k and not 245kb. Make sense?

I am having a problem using this with flash video. It loads to the next frame fine. But when the video begins to play it jumps back to frame one and then it just flashed back and forth between fram one and two. If you pause the video it will stay on screen but as soon as you hit play it goes back to frame one. I need it to pre-load the actual FLV file. How can this be done?

I’m loading an external movie into a movie clip on my main stage. The external swf contains the preloader. When I use this method the preloader shows NaN%.
If I use the same method but load the external swf file into a “_Level” the preloader works fine.
What wrong? THANKS in advanced for any help!!!

too bad it’s 245kb… I’ll need a preloader for your preloader 
gabrielsantana Actually the preloader is just a few KB, the reason why it’s 245kb is the mp3 which I dropped in to the SWF to simulate a preload. So all you need to do is drop the preloader movie clip into your movie and it will preload whatever is in that SWF .

Except where explicitly stated this file is entirely the work of digitalscience. The author has indicated that any images / sounds / video / flash used which are not the author's work have been appropriately licensed for resale.
Think this file has infringed someone else's copyright?
