HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesUtilitiesProgress Meter

Progress Meter is designed to animate progress towards a goal. It can be used to show a fundraising goal (like a fundraiser thermometer), track points, track some kind of percentage, or any other kind of numerical goal. Although the Progress Meter has been designed specifically to show progress towards a goal, it has a number of options that makes it possible to use the item in a wide variety of situations, like a preloader or any kind of situation where percentage of progress needs to be animated.

I’m looking for a solution where I can pass the xml file name into the swf as a variable so that the thermometer would load and then choose the correct xml doc to read data. Any thoughts?

Is this example is working with an XML file ?

Sorry for the response delay. I’ve been out of town celebrating Thanksgiving and eating turkey. I will have time to answer your questions tomorrow (I don’t want to just say something real quick without making sure I am telling you something correct – it’s late right now).

@usrmatt: The way the file is setup, the XML filename is set by a variable in the FLA . However, if you have Flash CS3 and feel comfortable editing a little bit of code, I can provide you step-by-step directions on how to pass the XML file location in dynamically if you buy the file. Just post back to this message board after you have purchased the file, and I will provide the directions.

@SuperFlash: The preview.swf file used is using the variable method, but it could have been easily done with XML by setting the xmlExternal variable in the FLA to true (for the preview, I set it to false). I’ve seen another file on FlashDen have problems with the preview when it used an external xml file. I figured it would be easier to set the variables in one flash file instead of having 10 different XML files to upload.

If you have any more questions, just post back here.
