The last Project Display item I created was fairly simple with two picture preview, an info display and a ‘launch project’ button. This one shares some features of the last but has a few extras as well. First, instead of two pictures, this file only displays one at a time. I kept the info display. Useful for summaries of a project’s description. To the right of the picture and info text field is a scroller. In the scroller are ‘items’ in a list holding a thumbnail, the project title and a brief bit of info about the project. You’ll see that there is a previous and next button for optional navigation. Also I decided to keep included the counter… to well, keep count of which project is being viewed. Launch the project in a new window. Best used for showing off finished websites and what-not.

also, a nice feature would be mouse coordinate scrolling. so you can scroll by rolling over instead of just pulling the drag bar.

@EricTheRedd: Yes, it can be loaded into a movieclip. And if you want it to have mouse scrolling you can contact me by through my den portfolio page and I’ll set it up for you if you buy this file.

@hughnef: You know. To tell you the truth, I don’t work with flv files. I’m not sure how they would work with this file. All images and info are loaded through xml so if YOU know how to use flv files you might be able to figure it out. Sorry, vids are not my area. At least not at this point.

You need to drag the bar down for it to scroll.

You get the .fla, .swf, index.html, and xml files. Everything compelte so you can edit it the way you want. Keep in mind that it is a flash 8 version file.

You did a great job… I really like how it’s turning out so far. A few questions and comments:

1. I’m down for the mouse scroller feruzim@gmail.com).">(feruzim@gmail.com).

2. On my setup I have 16 items and I noticed that the more items you add the more the top item on the menu is hidden. In other words, if I had 32 items in the menu the top item would not be in view. Email me and I’ll send you the link so you can check it out for yourself. I don’t plan to have 32 items ever in the menu at once, but the title of my top item is out of view and I was wondering if there is a quick fix.

3. I’m not a genius when it comes to ASP . Is there an easy way to center the movie so when the window is resized, and my parent flash movie resizes as well, the PD2 movie is always in the middle of the parent flashes stage?

UPDATE

1. Still down for the mouse scroller. Don’t know why my email came out so weird. feruzim@gmail.com

2. I noticed that the top item in the menu is viewed perfectly until the scroller is touched or moved. Then, when the scroller is taken to its highest point it does not take the item menu to its highest point (thus hiding a part of the top item).This is most prevalent with more items in the menu. I hope that’s clearer.

3. I figured out the center alignment issue. I guess I am a genius of some sorts.

Yeah, I just realized that the reason why the items in the scroller act that way when touched our moved is because the empty movieclip(list_mc) that holds the items is inside another movieclip. Initially the items start out at the _y=0 coordinate. But after the items are moved they take the _y value of the movieclip that the list_mc is in, thus moving up a few pixels. I’ll work on an update that prevents that. I’ll also change the scroller to a mouse scroller for anyone who buys this file.

@agent8: There is a sort of “slider groove line” already. It’s just invisible. _alpha set at 0.
