How you you make this so that the Caption Shows when the image loads in. In other words…. you do not have to roll over in order to see the caption. ???? thanks, Paul

SimpleSlide was originaly created for the Nordic Photo Group frontpage. It’s a dead-simple solution for putting slide shows on your site. Perhaps as a header for your blog?
SimpleSlide is entirely configured through a plain text file; you can adjust the transition effect, list of images and (optionaly) set captions or links for each pic.
SimpleSlide works in Flash Player 7 and above.
Useful questions:
Can I change the size of the banner?
Yes; open the FLA and set the stage size. Recompile.
Can I force the order of images?
To show pictures in order, open DataLoader.as and remove line 54:
Utils.shuffleArray (indexes); //randomize the images.Save and recompile.
Does it support GIF ?
Yup, but you must compile it for Flash Player 8 instead of 7 which is the default. Ergo; open the FLA & set your Publish Settings to Flash Player 8. Compile.
Note:
SimpleSlide 2 has been released, and adresses all of the above and more; albums, xml, dynamic stage size etc.
pjm1000 – no, MX wont open this file. But if you download a trial version of Flash 8 you can open it and save it as an MX file.
Feha – SimpleSlide 2 will use XML , and adress all the feedback I’ve got so far. It will be up early next week (currently number 40 in que).
It’ll support albums, have a dynamic stage size (even full screen!), shuffling can be turned on/off from the config file, you’ll be able to position the captions via XML (left, centered or right-aligned), the background color will be configurable and the file size is even smaller!
Also – it will be for Flash 8 by default and thus support PNG , SWF and GIF from the box. In a nutshell: it will be much better suited for dynamic embedding and you shouldn’t ever need to recompile it.

Unless you’re very interrested in getting your hands on my configparser, I suggest you go with the new file.

hi again. used this for a client in the working stages right now, and i did not take out the line that should force the order of the images, but they still seem to be coming up backwards, in order, no matter what anyway.
line 54 is still in my dataloader.as file…..
any ideas? i’d like the images to be random.

Have you compiled it with the line in the AS-file? If you’re sure, please send me an email to remind to have a look at this tomorrow – perhaps I’ve messed something up in one of my updates. I’ll try to remember but I seldom check these old files.

Is there a way to move the images so that they don’t show up in the middle? I’d like to position the images off to the right within another flash file.
