TELLAFRIEND | BASED ON A FLAT TEXT FILE AND PHP

HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesUtilitiestellAFriend | Based on a flat text file and PHP

This is a ’ tell a friend ’ script that’s easy adjustable and has an extensive email validator.

This little file enables you to let your visitors tell their friends about your website. It uses the PHP mail function to send a mail to the address a visitor specified using your mail server. You can use it inside flash, or embed it in HTML .

The SWF (stand-alone) is transparent and get’s all its data from a text file. You can specify the font color, error messages and off course the message you want to send out to the world.

If that wasn’t good enough; besides extensive e-mail validation (which you can tweak in the setup file), the file also stores all valid e-mail addresses in a flat text file. This is used to check whether a mail has already been send, because you don’t want people to annoy others, using your website.

No database needed, no knowledge of flash needed. Not even to adjust the layout (if any).

Things worth mentioning: A. Your server must be enabled to send mail using PHP . Ask your host if you don’t know for sure. B. The email verification is done by pure logic, so it does not exclude non-existing addresses.

Enjoy, FonZ

Is this a working example? I tried it and after hitting send, the red text is garbled and half way into the field box. FYI

This is not a working version because that’s not possible on Flashden.

I’m interested in seeing a screenshot of what you encountered though. Appreciate it if you would send one to info@dutched.org

Thank in advance!

Very good question!

The answer: that’s one of the options in the setup file!!

And yes, I did not list all country or other extensions known to man, but you can if you wish.

The extensions that are currently listed: aero biz com coop edu gov info int mil museum name net org pro be nl se de

So you can either extend that range or narrow it for a better targetted audience.

What is the language AS2 or AS3 ?

Posted about 1 month ago

AS2 .0, so it can also be exported down to flash8.

Hope that helps.

I tested the demo link, and for some reason it )">() was not working/included in the font set. Its damn hard to send a email without using an @.

Just a bug or?

Dear Nansen,

Characters that you will never find in a regular email adress can not be entered. All signs are included tho. Be so kind to actualy fill out the form and you’ll see you can use an @ sign.

Not a bug, security.
