Update 8 August 2008

File is updated and now it contains one extra file , with just video in the background and preloaders , everything else is stripped.

This file is constructed so that you can build your web site by building upon this file.
Video is loaded on the first layer in the file , everything else goes above the video layer, so all your graphics will show above the video.
Video is a progressive flash video, that means it’s dynamically loaded from the server.
  • Video is hidden on the start , until 10 seconds of the video are loaded, then we fade IN the video .
  • You can change the number of seconds for the video to wait to be loaded, before playing.
  • Video is set to loop, so when it reaches the end if will start again from zero seconds.
  • All elements on the stage are dynamically positioned on , and they reposition themselves every time the stage is resized.
  • Video is always resized proportionally so it will never be distorted.
  • There are two bars at the bottom red bar indicates how much of the video is loaded , and stage width represents complete video , even when the stage is resized , red bar will always indicate how much of the video is loaded , proportionally to the stage width. (stage width always represents 100% , no matter what size it is). green bar represents how much of the video has passed. same rules apply for green bar as for red bar.

Code is very well commented :)

This file goes hand in hand with this one:

Hi, I would like to just have one of the scan lines without the options to change them. Would you be able to help explain how I do this? Thanks for a great file. Chris

@indigochris
in the fla file “full screen video background_minimum_assets.fla” add a layer and drag the movie from the librarry “scansHolder” and give it an instance name of “scanLinesHolder” and place it on the last frame of the main timeline.
In the actionscript file “video_background_minimum.as” uncomment these lines. 115 and 118.
Also file with all these modifications is in the update queue ,for your convenience.

Hi, how can I change the video to my own stuff. Do I just need to make the file name the same (“new_now_take_2.flv”;)? I copy stuff over but it’s a blank screen when I publish thanks

you can have your own name for the video , you just need to change the name inside actionscript file .

thanks for the fast response. I’ve added my own flv file into my folder with all the other files and changed the name in the .as file, but nothing plays when it publishes – is there something else I should be doing? Sorry, but am quite new to this…

dSky,

I have re-downloaded, starting from fresh to make sure. Straight out of the ZIP , the index file does not work. The buffer is constantly looping. Tested in Safari, IE and Firefox.

I went into the files looking for the problem, but can’t identify anything. Do you have any ideas? If it helps, all files work when you Test in Flash, but fail on Publish running it in the Flash Player or in Browser.

Thanks

Hi, I’ve re downloaded the file and it works perfectly. It works online as well as offline. Maybe you’re having problems with local playback security?
