TYPEWRITER EFFECT - CUSTOMIZABLE AND XML DRIVEN

HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashAnimationsText AnimationTypeWriter Effect - Customizable and XML Driven

This is a simple but very customizable typewriter effect. You can change the font, text size, color, typing speed, control the area of where it types, pause the typing, even the cursor icon.

If the area for the text is too small to fit all the text, the text area will scroll up whenever it starts a new line.

You can set the typing to start automatically as soon as it loads, or make it start when you want, like on a button click.

Cursor automatically disappears when typing is complete.

Written in AS3 , AS2 version is available upon request.

If some times to press START there is a mistake

Posted 6 months ago

Thanks for catching that. The only mistake I see is that if it’s done typing and you press start it puts in the cursor icon. I will fix that, but that’s not really a problem with the typewriter, rather it’s a problem with my start button. In a real scenario, I wouldn’t allow the user to press start after it’s done typing. In most cases I won’t even have buttons, this example just used buttons to show you how easy it is to use.

Works Great!

Just need to now get it to cycle through the different text, but only see one line at a time.

My animation is telephone numbers dialling on a small phone screen. So it dials one number then should disappear and dial another number on the screen.

I have made the height of the container the size of the screen so that each new line of text:

<![CDATA[0845 SAMSUNG ]]>

so previous ones disapear up out of the container (basically not visible). Great that works… but the next lines that appear start to change the position so no the same place each time.

Can I do it so it just starts in the same place again?

It works really well apart from that.

Thanks Mark

Hi,

Thought seeing it actually working might help :o) http://www.designisagoodidea.co.uk/typewriter/

As you can see it changes position.

<?xml version=”1.0” encoding=”UTF-8”?> <![CDATA[0845 SAMSUNG ]]> <![CDATA[0800 HELP ME ]]> <![CDATA[0800 SKINCARE ]]> <![CDATA[0845 STUDENT ]]> <![CDATA[0800 TEACHER ]]> <![CDATA[0800 REVERSE ]]> <![CDATA[0800 HANDYMAN ]]> <![CDATA[0845 SEALINE ]]> <![CDATA[0845 STUDENT ]]> <![CDATA[0845 START ]]>

Would really appreciate your help.

Thanks Mark

Smooth. It works great.

Is there anyway to fix lineHeight(leading) . I’ve tried to implement stylesheets but I get errors. What you suggest?
