UPLOAD GADGET

This is a file upload flash component that allows single or multiple file uploads. Files can be queued for upload and started when ready and has the ability to page through the queue and remove individual files. It supports multiple configurations, file restrictions, IP blocking, and upload notifications.

Release 2 Features:

  • General user-selectable upload locations. Within each upload configuration, several upload locations/scripts can be specified that point to different upload locations.
  • Client-side maximum file size. The component now implements a client-side restriction of upload file size.
  • Server-side IP blocking. IP Addresses can be specified in the server-side script to ignore uploads based on client IP address.
  • Implements notification per file or per queue completion. A separate server-side script can be fired off at the completion of a file or queue upload. The default implementation gives an example of sending a mail to a mail address on queue completion.
  • User-specific upload configurations. The component is parameterized to allow for distinct upload options per specified user via individual XML configuration files. Size limits, what locations are available, notifications, and what filters are in place can now be customized per user.
  • Improved documentation with additional code API documentation.
  • All Release 1 Features.

Release 1 Features:

  • Simple XML configuration file for common options
  • Easy creation of multiple custom filters for restricting file types to upload
  • You can set a limit of how many queue slots are displayed or available
  • Files to be upload are queued and can be removed from the queue as needed
  • Dynamic paging through the queue to keep screen real-estate to a minimum
  • Easy to understand, implement, and modify
  • Supports PHP 5 +, ASP .NET 2.0+, Coldfusion 8+
  • Best practices implemented and documented for secure uploads
  • Good error reporting, including handling zero-length files correctly
  • Professional code and full instructions to setup and integrate on multiple platforms are provided. (Apache/PHP, IIS /.NET, and Coldfusion)

Included:

  • Source FLA and SWF Files
  • Help File
  • XML Configuration File (Default)
  • Server-Side Upload Scripts (.php, .aspx, .cfm)

This seems to be the most difficult thing to setup. There are many different files. I can not locate a “Help File”. If there is a help file, it should be named either “help”, “setup”, “instillation”, “how to” or instruction. It should also be located in the “doc” folder.

It’s a very exciting and must have gadget, but the setup seems complicated.

AlleyCat: There should be a single pdf documentation file called gadget-upload.pdf in the /doc folder.

One of the first things mentioned in the user manual is how to customize this tool. The first thing is the “unlock the stage, strip out the background graphic and version marker”. Please advise as to how to do this. There appears to be no background layer, the graphic is not linked to any of the movie clips and there are no “unlock” options for the stage. Where is the background graphic located, is it loaded externally?

Thank you. DMR

Never mind, I found the answer by going through all the other posts. I am using the PHP upload file and it appears to successfully complete yet no file appears in the directory. Demo mode is turned off. Any ideas? d.

droberts999: The first thing to check is your web server logs for errors. In cases where it silently fails, it may be a permissions issue on the server-side. If you have access to the IDE , another option is to use the same configuration on a local Debug version of the SWF and attempt an upload to the same URLs. By default, errors should be traced out. If you continue to have issues, please feel free to email artitron@gmail.com and we can work through the configuration.

Hello Artitron, I send you a mail at artitron@gmail.com because i have a problem with your file. I’m Tony. Do you receive my mail??? I wait for your response Tony

I responded via email. It might be a permissions problem on your “uploads” folder.

Artitron,

I am in desperate need of your help with this application, for a project I am working on.

I need to be able to re-direct the page after a successful upload. Please advise on how to do this. I have tried it a number of ways using both the upload.php and UploadGadget.as files. I outlined my methods in a previous post.

Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much.

Ok, thank you. I really appreciate it. Sorry about that, I won’t do it in the future, didn’t know. :-( d.

droberts999: Your profile doesn’t expose your email address. Can you respond to artitron@gmail.com and we can work through the steps to get the required on-upload response.
