XML VIRTUAL TOUR

Easy to use Virtual Tour useful for viewing 360 degree panoramic images. The image is loaded externally as a jpeg, use the XML file to change the file name/image type and caption text. You may note the preloader loads twice, the first loads the image, the second duplicates the image for looping.

You can change the file type in the xml so jpeg, gif, png or swf could be loaded in.

2 Questions:

(1) Do you have code that could reference two btn’s on my stage (“left” and “right” and allow these btns to load new 360 view images into the virtualtour_mc?

(2) Where would I put it?

Hi there,

like you said, it’s possible to use a swf instead of an image. Have you tried already to making butttons with some function like zooming a detail from the image?

Why can’t I use images wider than 3000px? When I try, it will only show the first 3000px and then it loops again.

I’m experiencing the same problem. My image has exactly 3000 px. But it seems that the action can’t get the total lenght of the picture.

Do you have a clue how to fix it?

Hi,

I have a few jpeg file that was created for Quicktime VR, which it 1200×330 total size, because this will look some distorted when using this Virtual Tour XML default window size, so I think if this viewing window is about 450 pixels wide then I can use what I have, so it looks less distorted.

I try to re-size but can’t make it to fit 450 wide… is that possible?

Hi, I haven’t seen an answer to the 3000px width limit as of yet. I have an image that 3700px wide and would like to use it. Also, I tried altering the dimensions of this movie and it no longer works. Please help.

Hi, Also, in addition to the above, I noticed that, on a Mac in Safari, when you click to another window and come back, the image is scrolling at warp speed. This is even after I slowed it down by increasing the scroll speed variable in the script. Again, please help.

Hi Digital Science,

I have downloaded your application and got it working well – I really like it actually. I am wondering if it is possible for it to be modified to dynamically load up the image and image caption in the XML file from a database – I would like to have a more automated solution ideally when administering large numbers of virtual tours.

I have a swf im currently using and it looks great! however when i click on something and go to a different scene, it loops back to the first scene and then jumps again to the correct position. abit strange.

Yes im not using your flash anymore, I have developed my own without the use of XML . Seems to be working well.

i’m not sure i stated my issue correctly, please test this out. make a stage 900×400, have the flash link to a jpg image of 6392×400. when panning right the image is cut off. i hope that’s better worded. looking for solutions.
