This file has been updated: Now with a better loading scheme, which makes it a lot more fluent!
Info: An easy to use and customize Banner Rotation System driven by XML . This file allows you to make a slide show of all your affiliate banners. Even making each banner clickable with its own URL . You can also set the display time for each banner seperately. So in your XML file you set:The actionscript uses the tween class to fade from 1 banner to another.
The size of the banner is easily changed to any size you want. The rotation system is a movieclip, that you can drag to the stage and it will work automatically.
It supports jpg’s, png’s and swf’s, as long as they do not have any transparency. Cause the banners are loaded in 2 layers and with transparency you could see 1 through the other. For swf’s you would have to place a solid rectangle on the background to avoid transparency.

Worked perfect on the pc. Was approved by FD, so I guess they made a little mistake :S

Don’t think it’s browser related. Maybe they forgot to include the xml file. Not sure though.

A very stupid mistake of my own. In the xml file I referred to the “images” folder, but the images folder was named with a capital I (Images). Does not cause any problems on the hard drive, but becomes a problem as soon as you place the content online. The updated files are in the queue and should be online soon. You can see a working version over here for now: http://www.2createit.nl/flashden/banners.html

@edfar You can change the displaytime in the xml file. If you are not sure how, you can send me your files in a zip and I’ll set it up for you.

Yvo,
Thank you for the help… I got another issue… I implemented your rotating banner in my main site. It works okay, but when I click a button of the main menu the page starts reloading and stays like that just loading and loading and when it reaches the banner starts to load again and again… so I took out the swf loading your banner and the page works okay… what might be the problem?
thanks for the help in advance…

This was a problem pointed out to me by Spike. He sent me his file and I found a small timeline bug that caused this. I updated the file and it has now been replaced. So if you redownload this file you will find that the problem is gone. It has a better loading scheme as well which makes it more fluent. If you still run into problems you can always email me your files and I will help you out.

Yvo – i like this file and want to use it. One problem though, i need to rotate more than just an image file. I use OpenX to serve ads on my site and on one page where users sit for hours it seams id like to rotate the ads with it… would it be possible to drop in javascript code to display instead of just an image?

Hi dotdragon, I know little about javascript, so I have no clue whether it’s possible or not. Maybe you have an example of javascript code you want to use then I could try to see if it works. Better to send me an email for quicker response. Check out my profile for my email address.

this is FLASH banner system – for a flash site. not flexible at all for dynamic embedding in html. it was designed to be embedded in flash.
that gray holder box is actually part of the file, not just here for example.
a banner system should take its size from the xml file or from the html parameters. with this script you have to manually change the size in the fla and create a new swf for every banner size you want on a site.
waste of time and energy (and money). sorry..

Hi there masteryan. First of sorry for my late reply, but I had not seen your comment before. I’m sorry to see you did not like my file.
Let me respond to your comments though. Indeed it was embedded to be in flash. I never claimed it wasn’t. Like I said in my info above it is a movieclip and thus to be used in flash.
As far as I know there is no way to give the total fla dimensions read from an xml, cause the Stage.height and Stage.width properties are read-only. Maybe it can be done using some javascript, but I’d have to look into that, when I have some time.
Again sorry for your discontent.
