Use the longitude and latitude to place the points, links and description on the map.
Included is a XML file where you can add as many points as you want.
The map can be any map as long as it is delimited by the coordinates of each of the four corners. I included two maps as a sample: USA map and the Earth map.

Hehe, you lucky man!
I replaced it and you have the menu for free now. My bad.

Hi bobocel:
Do you think you can inplement a map with pan/zoom, with tooltips and links in it, using custom maps ?
If this is possible write to my mail: globalwebs@gmail.com , to give you more details.
Thx.

Hello bobocel!
Do you inplement the pan/zoom actually?
(My English is very poor
)
@Shuffledex: hey. No worries, I understand your question. In this file I keep it simple: I only detect the position on the map based on the coordinates (longitude and latitude) and the map size(width and height).

@bobocel: It was not what i wanted to ask! The question is the same as you wonder ejoseph.

Hi there,
I cant seem to get this to work. All I get is a horizontal grey bar across the screen.
I’m using the sample settings.xml and map.jpg. My html page is as follows :
<div id="FlashContent">
</div>
<script type="text/javascript" src="../JavaScript/swfobject.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
var so = new SWFObject("../JavaScript/XY coord.swf", "idXYMap", "431", "214", "8", "#ffffff");
so.write("FlashContent");
</script>
Help ?

Would love to see a map that shows a animated dot for a visitors location
voodoodesigns: wow.. that would be a great idea.. a more cleanr map, each time there’s a visitor a new point appears on the map – if more than one person from the same place/city, the point gets a different tint or hue… o0 it would be nice indeed.

Hi Bobocel,
Great file.. As you can see I have purchased : )
Just one thing.. I have plot points that have the label/tool tip sitting behind another plot point. I can kinda understand why this would happen with each new plot point having a different ‘depth’ value (z-axis). Or is it the html text rendering that causes it?
If there is an easy way of solving this then I would greatly appreciate any advice.
Thanks, Baz

Uhm, you can set the depth to be the highest on roll over. Let me know if that works out.

Hi
I just purchased the file but can’t get it to work properly. I googled for the lat/lon coordinates of Miami: LAT 25 .78, LON 80 .21 Another site gives the Miami coordinate as 25.78 and -80.21
When I adjust the USA xml file and try to put Miami on the USA map, it doesn’t show!
How can I get the proper LAT /LON coordinates in the XML file?
Please help,
Bennie.

Another comment:
I also tried putting a point on “spain” on the world map. When googling for the LAT /LON of spain, I find 40°00N and 4°00W
How can I put these LAT /LON coordinates in the xml file? I’ve tried all possible combinations but none of them places the point on spain on the world map.
Thanks
Bennie

Hi,
The LAT /LON coordinates I found are from wikipedia, are those not the same LAT /LON coordinates that this component uses?
Wikipedia and google maps say that spain lies on 40.409314, -3.694153
Is this not correct? Where can I find the correct coordinates then?
Thanks!
Bennie.
