ZOOM / PAN CONTROLS - WITH DYNAMIC IMAGE & SETTINGS

HomeBrowse CategoriesFlashApplications and UtilitiesZOOM / PAN CONTROLS - With Dynamic Image & Settings
Prepared to display high resolution product photos, maps and any image or Flash swf. Can be implemented anywhere in a webpage or opened through standalone flash player. Automatically resizable to fit within the dimension specified in HTML file and even to fill the full browser window. Button controls available for zoom, pan and to reset the position of image.
  • Can be dragged using Mouse.
  • Can be zoomed using Mouse Wheel (for windows only)
  • You can enable/disable the functionalities through available settings.
  • Can specify your own canvas width and height.
  • Supports Flash player version 7.0 and above.
  • Coded with AS 2 .0, Source File in Flash 8.0.
  • Fully editable MCs, No compiled Clips.
  • Commented Action script and xml file.
Both the following versions of files included with deliverables:
  1. Fully Editable Flash Source
Flash source file included so that a designer / developer with basic knowledge in Adobe Flash can customize the settings and design if needed. Of course, the image can also be added directly in to Flash library if preferred.
  2. Flash Source + XML file to adjust settings
No knowledge on Flash needed. All the settings can be made without editing the flash. The image file link and all the necessary values are received from the XML file. You can even change the button color, transparency and location of buttons through the XML file.

Here is the list of available dynamic settings:

  1. Image can be loaded outside from Flash. Either you can specify the file path through XML or through Flash variables method from the html file.
  2. Amount (speed) of zoom and speed of movement in response to the buttons can be adjusted.
  3. Adjustable Easing value (smoothness of movement and zoom)
  4. Maximum allowed zoom level is adjustable.
  5. Alignment and location of the control buttons
  6. Color and transparency of Button and its background
  7. The Mouse Drag option or Position buttons can be disabled (if preferred)
Below is the screenshot of the XML file:

For those who purchased this file and like to load this into another swf:

Note:
1. Flash player 7.0 supports loading external images in JPG / JPEG /JPE formats only. If you prefer to load GIF or PNG , the same Flash file should be published in 8.0 versions. For this reason, a version published with 8.0 also included with deliverables.

2. The above preview is published with player version 7.0. If you publish the file as version 8.0, the dynamic images will not have smoother look than version 7.0. This is a know limitation understood as player’s capabilities (See below for an update on this).

UPDATE : [08 AUG 2008 ]

  1. Keyboard shortcuts added: UP, DOWN , LEFT, RIGHT , SPACE, +, –
  2. For those who like to publish in player version 8.0, bitmap smoothing added to acheive the same smoothness available in 7.0. The new source files added inside the folder “player version 8.0”. Please experiment yourself as the efficiency of display depends on the dimensions of image.
UPDATE : [12 AUG 2008 ]
  • As requested, I made it to work along with interactive swf. In the place of image, you can now load an swf with buttons and links.
  • Also you can call (load) more swf files from within the content swf. If you think the content swf changes its width and height dynamically, you need to call a function to make the zoom actions to work in response to change. It is explained in the document provided with source files.

If I wanted to load in an interactive swf, would it be okay if that swf was coded in AS3 ? This file is in AS2 , correct?

I’m pretty sure there wouldn’t be a conflict but I wanted to be sure…

Thanks!

Actually I think I just read that loading an AS3 swf into an AS2 file isn’t possible. Bummer :-(

With all the upgrades you’ve been doing, has the project made it to an AS3 version yet?

btvs123,

Sad news! Neither this file can be loaded into an AS3 file nor an AS3 file can be loaded into this one. I will code it to support AS3 and update here after 1 or 2 weeks.

Pretty cool so far. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what’s the purpose of swfobject.js? Is there any downside to just using an imbed? Do I need it for anything specific?

Also, is there a way to hide the navigation menu? It would be neat if it was invisible but then if you hovered over its location it faded back into view. Thanks!

sun-tracker,

swfobject is one of the popular method used to embed flash with html page. You can find better guidence through this link: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/swfobject_05.html

Regarding the navigation menu, if you send me your email id, I will send you the set of source files with that option added. You can contact me through my profile page.

Hello! can i use this one with an xml gallery? Thanks!

Evanproject

Yes, you can load this file into any swf. The present version is prepared for AS2 and Flash Player 7.0 and 8.0. Make sure that your xml gallery supports those versions. Note that, I will be updating tomorrow with AS3 support and minor bug fixes.

Hi

Wonderful job. Question… Can you make it so we can load the image name through the HTML code? So it looks like zoom.swf?imgsrc=/img/name.jpg&size=400… ???

That would be amazing

Thanks a lot

samsam92,

Yes, you can send the image path through the way you mentioned. The variable name is ‘image’. If you prefer to send the height and width, the variable names are ‘canvasWidth’ and ‘canvasHeight’. However, to activate this, you need to remove those variable assignments in the source file.

Hi, love the app so far. However, the images I want to load are on a remote server. The ImageLink would look something like this: http://mydomain.com/myimage.jpg. When I pass this in the XML it is unable to pull up the image. Any suggestions?

webnet02, I have checked it now and it works fine with remote server images specified through xml file. May be are you checking your files from local machine instead of webserver? If this is not the reason, feel free to contact me through my profile page message.
